Watched your video on Bing 32mm rebuild. Always had a fear of disassembling a carb. After watching this, I 100% can easily rebuild my carbs on my '75 R75/6. Thank you for a most informative video. Between this and my repair manual, I have supreme confidence. I have Subscribed!

The throttle plate screws are usually peened on the back side to prevent them from turning. The solution is to grind or file down the the screws, then they will release freely without damaging the threads on the shaft. Reassemble with blue loctite.

red loctite. you do NOT want them coming apart. instant engine destroyer

Thanks. I rebuilt the two carbs on my '87 R80, after mice made homes in them. I learned a lot from this video, especially how to adjust the float. I was bending the float attachment tabs, not the underneath tab that acts on the needle valve.

Perfect explaining during disassembly and assembly, looking forward to do mine now (not so much the screws which probably will give me hell, but the rest looked "easy"). Are there any products you can recommend to clean the yellowing parts of the carb without damaging the aluminium?

How do you know which way the impact driver is going to twist? I can never keep it straight when I need to use mine.

Huh. Same on my '88 R100GS as that '73 R75/5? I used to rebuild the ones on my '73 R75/5 every six months just for fun and to keep it running smoothly. But there is a vacuum adjust on my '88 carbs. Anyway, going to dive in and rebuild those bings today! ETA: Funny, to get at the valve under the float I always just pushed the float over the stops and it was easily out of the way, no problem. Won't work on my newer cabs, off to Ace to buy a 1mm punch.

Thanks for this video. I have a question, do or did the R90s have bing 32mm carbs on them. I'm restoring a R90s. Cheers mate.
@TheBMWGuy3 ай бұрын
no they do not, they have completely different carbs.

Great video, can't wait to rebuild mine. Once they're rebuilt, how long should those o rings and seals last? Assuming no performance issues, how much time between rebuilds? I know my 1982 R100 needs a rebuild, but I am still able to daily ride it with no significant issues, and I have no idea when the carbs were last torn down.

Nice job! I don't know in which country you are ? I have a motorcycle BMW R80 RT 1991 with very bad carbs. I which I can send them to you to be rebuilt. I am in Algeria and I wonder if the fedex service service or an equivalent is functioning between Algeria and where you are. If I find a way, I will send one or both to you. Finally, thanks for the effort and the nice videos you are making.

It was a big fail for you not to mention the butterfly screws are peened on the back. One of mine snapped off and drilling out resulted in a destroyed throttle shaft. You should do an edit and add that for future people following your videos. Other than that I think my first ever Bing rebuild went ok.

Is it the same rebuild kit for the 32mm and the 40mm? Thoughts on where to order the kit?
@vizio3226 күн бұрын
