Brake sensor wont reset?
Got an extra broken sensor?
You can use this to temporarily or permanently stop the brake light from coming on.
This is my 2011 E90 328i and its brake sensor was broken while driving. Figured I would test a temporary solution and record it for yall.
Steps to DIY
1. Get a brake sensor that has at least the connector and some length of cable. (not sure how far along you can cut it to work, I assume the entire way)
2. For example ill be cutting the cable at the end of the sensor that goes onto the brake pad. Get a pair of scissors or something similar, and either slide the plastic off, or do a circle around the cable and pull the plastic off by hand.
3. Once you have both wires exposed, you want to twist them together pretty good. Then you want to either us a heat tube to cap it, or get it good with electrical tape.
4. Once that sensor is put in place, you want to hop into the car. Make sure the door is closed! Start the ignition.(Put the key in, and press the push to start without your foot on the brake)
5. Press the BC button on the turn signal once to clear the existing brake pad error. Then on the bottom left of the dashboard hold down the trip reset button until you pass the hazard symbol on the dash.
6. You should be at a page where you see some sort of part of the car with some miles. Use the up/down switches to the right of the BC button to navigate the menu. Go to whichever side sensor you swapped, and press the BC to reset, and then hold it until the clock starts.
7. You should now have no brake light and the main computer screen will update in a couple minutes. Easy enough.
