Thank you to the makers of this video. My father Art bought his first BMW in 1972. A Colorado orange 2002, in Erie PA. He and my late mother had taken no less than 3 Nürburgring driving schools in the late 1970s, and together, they bought a 1977 E21 (320i) in Germany - where they logged 3000 Autobahn miles on it, before bringing it stateside. He bought his dream car in 1987 (a 1972 3.0CSi named "Ilse")...and he drove that car until his death in August of 2019, at the noble age of 85. Barely able to walk....but he could still pilot that car via pure muscle memory and with an unmatched love affair with the machinery. This video made me cry.... What a way to start 2020. With any luck, I'll be taking his coupe to The North Carolina Vintage in May (that's an 8 hour drive each way for me). It has 350,000+ miles on it....on the original bottom end, and transmission, and a 30 year old clutch.... but I can't think of a more fitting tribute to him. Respect your elders.

I've owned 1995 e34 525i and it still is my favorite of all the cars I've driven. It was perfectly balanced and cornered with such precision. I literally cried when I sold it in 2015.

It makes me sad honestly. All of the cars I adore are older than me. All of the cars I own are older than me. I feel like all that's good is already made, and rarely any new design catches my eye(especially the EVs. I try to stay objective towards electromobility, but why all of the electric cars are so hideous) and vehicles start to resemble just tools more than work of art.

I feel the same, a few days ago I drove my first modern Hybrid car (bought by my parents brand new from the dealership this year), I've always driven older vehicles, I own a vintage motorbike and my current car is almost as old as myself. All I have to say is that I've never felt so disconected from the machine as when I drove the modern car... It felt souless, just a tool to get you from point A to point B, it was very comfortable and easy to drive; but I felt something inside of me dying as I drove it... I think I'll stick to the "uncomfortable and hard to drive" older machines, they bring joy to my heart in ways only those who love driving can comprehend.
