BMW E39 528i Muffler deleted - sound

This is my BMW E39 528i. This is just a muffler deleted video, with some revs and pulls. In my first E39 muffler delete video, I did say I'll make a better video, so here it is.
This exhaust setup is just temporary till I get better exhaust, but I don't rush with it because I have other priorities first, for example better suspension. My plan in future for this car is, better suspension, new Hella headlight installment and Supersport (or something similar) muffler with Y-resonator delete. This will happen after the Christmas I'm afraid.

Specs: 8.5x18et13 and 10x18et19
Tyresize: 215/35R18 and 235/35R18

Hey, Thank you mate. In the front: 8.5x18ET13 with 215-35/18 Falken ZIEX tyres with 20mm spacers. At the back, 10x18ET19 with 235-35/18 Falken ZIEX tyres with 10mm spacers. Have to have some stretch on the tyre to have that hight and spacers. Looks good though.

Hi Alex, Thanks for watching! I just did a muffler delete meaning cut the rear muffler and just piped the excess and mounted a exhaust tip. I did this in the driveway with my mate. Yes of course we welded it. This is just a temporary solution. Next year I will cut the resonator (Y-silencer) and get a proper rear sporty muffler. That's a better soundtrack lol. I'll make a video on that too :)

fredgust84 Thanks man. Yeah, they are OEM Hella facelift tailight (CELIS). If you want to fit those facelift tailight on a preface chassi, you need to bore 2 new holes to make them fit, or they wont. Also you need a ballast since celis taillight use much less volt to the LED bars. It's not plug and play like facelifte versions, its some minor difference but its not difficult to retrofit them.

Thanks man. I haven't replaced it yet, now its just pipes from Y-resonator. The plan is, to delete Y-resonator and buy a proper sports muffler, like Supersport or Supersprint or equivalent.

n0b0dy_ep1c BMW makes reliable Inline 6 engines. The E39 is pretty tough and common problems would be from the exterior and not the engine If you want the best reliability get the 525i or 528i.

BMWs from that time were gold,from 2.0 petrol to 5.0,since they were all straight six except 535,540 and M5 which were V8,and for example 316 and 318 which were pretty bad 4 cyls.

+Henry Perez Thanks man, really appreciate that. You should get a E39, they are awesome cars, really comfortable and sticks to the road really great. Just be carefull when you buy one, for rust at jackingspoints (especially if it has sunroof since the drainage goes to rear jacking points) and have a good service history when you buy it, have a good record of proper maintenance and not cheap aftermarket parts. Can save you lot of money in future. Good luck with yours!

oh man, thanks for the tips! I am an avid BMW lover/enthusiasts. Having owned an e36 328i I got bit by the bmw bug and evr since I sold the e36 I've been dreaming of owning an e39. I can also afford a nice E60 but I don't know, something about that stunning, beautiful timeless style of the e39 just gets me in all the right spots. +Zymh Hey - yeah that's a nice car - in fact I think E39 is surely THE hottest BMW ever, if not the hottest sedan ever made. I'm also looking to buy one in near-ish future. Although I know some of the BMW's faults ( I owned an E30 - was perfect though, nothing wrong with it, it was a tank :D, and now an E36 - and I do have some problems with water circulation and heat management - a common fault from what I've heard ). Just 2 questions - have you experienced any serious problems with this car and this engine? And about the comfort you mentioned - how is the noise when cruising steadily, say, around 120-140 kilometers per hour? I love just pushing BMW's on the road and having fun - but I see the E39 as a possible comfortable cruising car also, and since my current E36 is actually LOUDER inside than the E30 was ( !! ) I'm a bit worried - is it nice and reasonably quiet-ish while cruising on a highway?

Thanks man. I think E39s are one of the best looking BMW ever. And yes I do love classics like E30, E28, E21 etc. Heating and water is a problem when the car has some KM, because most parts are plastic and they tend to be brittle over time and the seals gets weak. Nothing hard to replace and once you replaced them, they are reliable. Also I forgot, sensors (cam and crank) are also common. I've replaced all of them and its all good now. It is loud and if I am keeping it, i'm getting a resonator, because its little too much drone for my likening. If you want to do something with the exhaust, just keep the resonator or buy a sporty resonator and it would be just fine when cruising. If you get especially a facelift models (01-03), isolation is really good and it feels solid and not a lot noise if thats what you worry. My mate got a E30 and you can hear lot of outside noise inside (you understand right?). That wil not be a problem on E39, trust me. They are solid. Good luck with you purchase!.

I just replaced the front and back bumpers to M-Tech. OEM M5 bumpers is 6 times more expensive and I've heard that m-tech is easier to line up to a non M5.

Nice mate I was under mine yesterday to replace prop shaft bearing and guibo and had to take full exhaust system off to get at it and while I was there we got the grinder out and took of the dead back box as mine had 2 one with pipe and other one without so took the pipe less box off and welded hole but left stranded box on it went a bit more deeper and grunty but obviously not like ur one so might just take the grinder back to it and chop it off
