I love how everyone seems to think that whenever black leatherseats look shiny in combination with a clean and good-smelling interior they think They’re clean... look at your seats! They are supposed to have a matte finish like that, They’re shiny because of all the Grease... same with the stearingwheel! Dang your m5 is sweet we rarely see 03 m5s here in sweden

Your tires say 3014 in the date code on the side meaning they were manufactured in the 30th week of 2014. The 30th week was July 21,2014 to July 27, 2014 to be exact. The tires on your car are fine for another two years, but im sure they will be gone before then. 

i did 2000 kilometers in under 24 hours driving from copenhagen to spa francorchamps ( belgium) and back, in my M5 and i absolutely LOVE the car , and the seats i think is pretty comfortable :)

Dennis Johansen 2000km is almost the exact distance, a bit under maybe, of driving between Miami and New York City which is about 1275 miles last I remember. I’m sure that was a lot of fun!

Hello from germany. I also can not open my armrest of my e39 M5 from 2002. For sure it is a german car, manufactored in Dingolfing for german users and first ownerof my car was M-GmbH itself. So, don't be sad to have no opened armrest, it seems to be there are more without including european cars. If you need some parts directly from here, let me know. We will find a way. Regards

I just sold my 2002 M5 :( and sold for on par with what you paid and all the little quirks. Seat twist, rear view mirror liquid leak, useless cup holders that broke, engine sounds about the same. I had two tone seats...black/gray on black. I had the dark silver trim. I loved it and thought I would keep it forever and hand it down to my kids. But as time went on, the toddlers took up so much of my time that the best thing for the Beast was to be with a young enthusiast. I was lucky enough to find one so as sad as I am, I know she’s in good hands. Love the car and you should feel lucky to own one. Congrats and be good to yours...

I really think you should get the eisenmann race mufflers! Mufflers are so big on both the 540i and the m5 so I believe straight pipe is too much, smaller flagship mufflers are perfect!

The PO of my '03 M5 did the muffler delete. Sounds really good in my opinion. Not too crazy loud after its warmed up.

Eisenmann is shitty, Supersprint has superior sound on the M5, especialy if you have x-pipe.

Have you tried sitting in the passenger seat? Is it more comfortable? If so, the drivers seat cushion is worn out and should be replaced.

If you do a hydrogen peroxide soak for two days in full sunlight it'll reverse the UV yellowing in your plastics (your coolant reservoir), done it to restore some 30 yr old plastics on a 1991

You could also wrap the front bumper so the crack is less visible or have it professionally repaired. When they repaint you could also ask them to fill and level the bumper holes so it'll look brand new. Plus its cheaper than getting a new bumper

The North American E39s don’t have the storage tray under the center console because all of them are pre-wired for the old school in car telephone, and the wiring runs right through the storage area.

We have identical vehicles...almost...mine is an 03' e39, Carbon Black, but black and red interior with carbon interior details vs woodgrain and 78K Miles...sans dents, rock chips, or rust; but I see you have a newer model in the garage, and as such, would appear we are "collectors" as well. My "daily driver" is a 335i 6 speed, and I LOVE playing between the two! Good luck in fixing up your M5, particularly bc they have started an upward trend in value the last year or so.

For the front bumper you could probably just have it repaired, I had a few cracks fixed on mine and with new paint it came to $700, considering a new OEM bumper is over 700 I'd say fixing your current one is a better bet financially. As for the arm rest, I agree, it's really stupid that it doesn't open haha. I bought a leather wrapped euro one from ebay a few years ago and love it, having the extra storage is definitely nice.

I would get a Dremel with some sandpaper and sand off the gas refiller rust and lay down some anti-rust primer.

It is perl and I barely dilute it. Honestly what I did was just as a few oz of water to the bottle and that’s it.

No offense but I feel like you have more complaints than anything. I have an E39 540 and almost 300k miles on it and I’m 2nd owner to a previous doctor who babied it. I’d still keep mine and buy yours just because the E39s. Then you should go buy a new Toyota off the show room.
