the ! symbol is the light which engages when there's an issue with your auto gearbox, informing you that something is wrong with it, troubleshooting here with so many possible and difficult problems is a bit difficult, I would suggest first flushing then replacing the fluid as per this video, and if problems persist I'm afraid you better take it to a reputable mechanic familiar with automatic gearboxes. My 2005 Mini Cooper convertible was doing the exact same thing. I have it at a shop right now. It's $5000.00 to replace the transmission. They said, someone replaced the transmission fluid but didn't put any back in. I.E. It's empty of fluid and there is no leak. I asked them to replace the fluid and see if that fixes it. I am waiting for an answer to see if it will. They seem to be skeptical that it will fix it.

@anonymousangel1 1st gear is there for a reason, starting on 2nd gear put alot of wear on the clutch, seems like u wore out ur clutch and when u try to engage it, its slipping

i got a 97 eagle talon 5 speed manual stuck in 4th and wont disengage and clutch stalls when let go??

I have a bmw 323i 1999 e36. After my car is running for awhile an exclamation mark turns on on the D something like (,'!', D) not really like that but something close enough. After the light turns the gears on my car dont go through. Its a rough idle but no power whatsover, sometimes i feel like a grandma driving. Its gottten to the point where the car doesnt go at all as much as i press on the gas. Trying to figure what it is. Hopefully just have to do with the trany fluid thats my guess HElP!

will this work for a e39 540i? i have a problem with second gear it wont come out it looks like its in neutral but when i relise the clutch... it goes in second gear? any other ideas?

i have a ford f-150 motor 351. . it shifts 1st n 2nd gear pretty well. . but when i almost reaching the 3rd gear it starts smoothly shakin back and forth for atleast 7seconds until it gets it. . idk wt it might be. . i either step on it or let the trans take his time. i have the oil in good level. can someone help?

ok i have a 93 318i 5 speed that was involved in a minor accident last year, the motor was not even touched but the gear shift was shoved forward and down and i only can find 3rd and 5th gear. i was told its somthing minor and by simply disconnecting the driveline can fix it but im doubtful, so can anyone help?

i changed my transimission fluid in my manual e46 the gears are smooth but when the car is cold i.e when i start it in the morning the gears are super hard. I have to force the gear into position does anyone know what might the problem be? much thanks

I have a E46 M3 SMG tranny 2004... I always use the manual mode, and always start from second gear from a complete stop or right light... (it seems when I start from 1st gear I need to change it right away to the second so thats why I always put it on second gear right away) but lately, it seems when I press the gas to go forward the car would start shaking-jerking, and when I go to third gear its fine and so on... only at second gear it does that..Anyone with any ideas, what it might be?thx

I kinda have the same problem I have a 01 525i I looked into it im pretty sure it might be the clutch relay or .needs a transmission flush .plus I have to change my chamshft sensor front I changed back I didn't yet
