Thanks for sharing. Do you know if the Hella is as reliable as The BMW genuine sensor ? The BMW is manufactured by Hella, but the price difference is $150ish...so I am wondering why

Hella is the exact same part. The BMW logo is ground off so you're getting a genuine part for a fraction of the cost

YES! It's the same part save your money. Hella makes it for BMW have had no issues on my e46 M3 and E36 318i

Beware 8 out of 10 new oil level/temp sensors are garbage. I've been installing these left and right and majority of them will register oil level but not temperature. Specially E38, E39 models. I started noticing this sometimes around 2013.

Stick to genuine or OE brand. I've never had an issue with these. 8/10 on cheap ones? Yes probably
