Saw that you prime the fuel filter. Do you prime a fuel pump in the same manner when replacing the fuel pump. Been trying to change my fuel pump for the past 3 weeks but can never get the car started with the new pump. Figured it was a dud so ordered a new one. Waiting for that one to arrive to give it another go.

The E60 of BMW 528i (2008) filter is similar except missing the wire at the top of the filter.

Excellent video dean!! Do you know what the proper fuel pressure should be for 2007 e60 n52 3stage manifold silver top ? I may need to replace ours it’s original I believe 220k miles .. not sure who carries these replacements in the us ? FCP euro does not . Issues is long cranks and also random will crank then stop an will start on 2nd attempt

What's your opinion about the Vanos solenoids. Do they really fail or is it just the O rings and debris from the oil? Will it help to change to new Viton O rings and clean them by pulsing with 12V ?

Hey Doc regarding siphoning fuel from the tank on an E60 M5 whats the best way? remove pump from under the seat or can the fuel line be disconnected from the fuel rail then use the ignition too pump fuel out?

Hi Dean, I got a mystery issue on my 2006 e60 m5, on cold start the car starts but rough idle in few seconds it goes to half engine reduced power. I check via ista+ all 1-5,9,10 cylinders misfires cut off fuel. Plus after it warms up for a few mins it’s hard to start car again it try to turn over seems lost fuel. Is it possible my fuel filter clog or dying overheatingfuel pump? It seems I’m loosing fuel pressure.

I need to get a part number for the tcu which was removed (stolen recovered car bought from auction), i saw on a previous vid you made that you can use inpa and info button to get module info but my inla is a few years old. My question is do you have any guides I can follow to upgrade inpa to read from my f46? Or can I use another system to get the part number for a module thats been removed? Cheers in advance.

Hi dean mate, i have an e60 lci petrol 30i 5 series and i have reduced power, i think it is the fuel pump but my local garage told me they couldn’t find it, where would it be located if you know mate, i thought it was under the car on the left side myself but alot of different videos showing different things for E60s. The e60 with the fuel pump on the side of the engines are the ones with the N54 engine. It has the high pressure fuel pump under the intake manifold

Just tackled the filter on my M5 with help from the video. A bit fiddly but not a bad job. I changed it because of the car went to reduced power mode at high rpm 3rd gear. This has not solved it. I just changed the green relay as it was cheap enough. Still no change. I had a friend moniitor fuel pressure while driving. 4 bar general driving, peaks at 6 bar while pushing and doesnt appear to drop very much not below 5.5bare however there must have been a momentary drop as the fault returned pressure of 4.8 bar at 8200 rpm. What would suggest as the next thing to investigate?

oh yes it does indeed but this was the first of MANY issues but this one cleared the limp mode and it was back to full power so I was a happy happy man within the first day of getting it I nailed the fault the 4k was worth it !!

Wish I saw this before I changed mine last night. I've never screamed at a car more in my life trying to connect the hoses with the lines still in the tank and the new fuel filter half in. My big ass hands couldn't get it on lol

Sometimes I have a long crank on my car and I can't start it and it's happening (strange) only when is hot outside, and the car stays in full sun. I think it can be the fuel filter/ regulator. No error codes btw P.S. I was waiting for a spark from that hammer but I was unlucky

Too bad ! We ain’t all p****ys to do s**t like that Bruda I take it your one who disconnects the battery while doing this job aswell and if you remove a airbag. That’s one thing I’m not is afraid of cars. If I die doing cars I die a happy man as Im doing what I love. No safe procedures on this channel, I do it my way or no way it makes me unique and exceptional and “clearly” gets viewed ah yeah I know that fault, common problem it’s like all BMWs have it, I have had to do it on all cars I’ve owned easy to do when you know what it is. Hope you fix it soon before it leaves you stranded 👊🏻

​@@BMWDoctor today was cold and the same shit happened so I think the weather has no influence. long crank and finally it started. I tried to put the key few times on position 2 to listen for the pump or something but no sound... or I don't hear any sound. I'll buy the ⛽ filter regulator to see if I can start it properly cause winter is coming and the battery will die eventually after such long cranks. btw M54 engine I had like last year the same problem but I fixed it with relay swap :)) maybe this year the relays are broken. both of them. I'll buy the relay and then I'll try with the filter/reg.

Worth noting is that if you have heated rear seats then don't just rip the seat out like that. For obvious reasons.

Oh no you can do that ! worst case you can rewire they are on plugs under the seat so very simple to unplug them to take out.

I don't know man, with the material flopping all around, I sure hope you cleaned the bottom of the tank inside, you had to get particles in there, no way around it. You say be careful, but you sure beat the hell out of the filter...just sayin'. From the looks of the material cover, someone has been in there before

I think we lost the gasket that goes underneath that black plate held on by the 4 - 10mm screws.
