Hello! I am a really big fan of your work. I just want to point out that that light is off an E70 from 2007-2010 pre lci, the LCI have a little bit different configuration but same design. Love the work bro!

Great video! Can we have more videos showing your knowledge on circuit boards?

Great video. It's really annoying that the damage is so minor yet the process takes a long time and a lot of skills lol. Most people would just buy new tail lights, so I'm glad there's someone like you on youtube showing us how to repair them. I wish you had a video on E60 lci tail lights. There's a lot of videos on e9x and f25 x5 but not e60.

I have done similar repair on a F11 rear hatch tail light. The backside of the cluster has to be cut to remove the LED light circuit board. Main problem are also cold solder joints on the circuit board.

Great research. But won't dust particles get inside the housing by cutting it open?
@MOvidiu2 жыл бұрын
Hello, of course will enter, maybe with an air compressor you can blow out some of them, or better buy a new lamp 😀

Use the soldering iron with the sharp edged cutting tool attachment and "melt" through the plastic. The dry joints on these circuit boards are the nemesis of BMW owners, they buy whole new light assemblies which are very expensive not knowing that the actual LEDs are fine, the problem being a simple "dry joint".

Hey! Do you maybe know what is the IC that is used for driving LES'd? It is marked E1S7n on it but to be honest I cannof find anything about this IC.

Unfortunately, the automotive industry is different! Sometimes, they use normal ICs, but they especially change the name /model. Sometimes, you can find someone like you and me who know electrics and show to others other times you need to struggle a little bit ! Unfortunately, I don't know.

@@MOvidiu I took out scheme of my module and see that circuit is similar to LDO working as current stabilized source. Something like LM317 (positive) or LM337 (negative) so I think if the IC fails it will be possible to put there something that is accessible on market.

I think this kind of LED control, and board is a sht. The basic level is funny, no cooling, and brightness is not enough. I don't understand E70 LCI why don't have full LED taillights?
