I’m having trouble with my oem head unit. Im probably going to install an Eonon GA8165a in my 2006 325i as per your recommendation. My problem is I had a hip replacement recently and I can’t sit or maneuver well yet. Although your vid is very thorough I may need help. I have a feeling you and I aren’t very far apart. If I tried this, guaranteed the wires would all be wrong, I would break all the tabs off the clips, it wouldn't fit in the opening and once I was done just shoving it into the dash, it would smoke and die. I could make a video to prove it but my camera would probably stop recording half way through. I can replace the engine air filters on an X5 though. As long as they have screws and not clips. Torx screws. That aren't already stripped out or missing.

The whole problem with it being that low in the center stack as opposed to the standard location is it virtually unusable while driving as the eye deflection angle is too great.

What a great job on the video !! I noticed your stock radio has the M.O.S.T. wiring in the factory harness as does mine. Are you getting error codes of any type or did you do something to bypass it or turn it off somehow to avoid problems ? I'm installing an Eonon GA8165A unit. Again...AWESOME video !!

As a matter of fact I pulled out my head unit today to see if I received any errors. I drove around for a while and none have appeared. Also the stock poweramp isn't in the MOST chain so I wont have to worry about it. I'm thinking the only head units requiring being installed for car software upgrades or troubleshooting are the IDrive and Logic7 units since you can program functions from them. I will keep my stock radio in any case. The SOS function has previously been turned off I'm assuming and my radio has no bluetooth functions. It's looking good right now. I'm not looking to blow the doors off but I think I will upgrade speakers and poweramp. I'm open to suggestions on both. Just don't have a lot of money to throw at it.

I have all the bottons for the phone functionality but I dont have the phone option in my BMW head unit... I assume this will be a problem. This sounds like you may have a loose battery connection. Check all connections to the back of the head unit.

Use a plastic pry tool and insert it just in front of each light

Had a eonon head unit- that crapped out after 60 days. Would randomly turn on- would not keep time change for daylight time saving. Gps sucked- only option was meters or yards- not miles. Pure crap.. ripped it out.
