With that 2-pipe modification removing the other catalysts would make mine too much, lucky then numbers haven’t complained at this stage lol

I'm surprised you said it'd fail the UK MOT as the emissions will be fine removing the primary cats (and leaving the secondary cats in place). Will the tester really know that the car has had primary cats removed (as not all cars have two sets of cats). Can you find a place who will just test based on emissions?
@stoneautomotive5 жыл бұрын
It really depends how “by the book” your MOT tester is, mines just had an MOT just before having the work carried out so that’s next years problem lol.. The problem is MOT rules now state the emissions system on the exhaust should not be modified from original specification.
@lordgibbness5 жыл бұрын
@@stoneautomotive do you reckon they have a schematic of every cars exhaust system? If not I reckon you might be ok with testers who don't know the e92? Hopefully it's not a ballache as I tried decat on the E46 for a year or two and now I've put them back due to all the faffing...
@stoneautomotive5 жыл бұрын
The problem is you’ll have lambda sensor, straight pipe then another lambda sensor, that’s the give away as you wouldn’t be monitoring gas changes in a straight pipe hence why you can see a catalyst has been removed. The only 2 real options are remove the second lambda sensor + mounting boss and route it to after the secondary cats or create a dummy shell that goes over the pre-cat delete pipe to make it “look” like a catalyst. Agree it can be a ball ache
@DaveJMcGarry4 жыл бұрын
You can find modders who will remove the inside of the primary cat by cutting open the top and then welding in a pipe to essentially test pipe it. Mine was done and with an evolve intake, i hit 457bhp on surrey rolling road. Figures on my insta @M3_1_YDO

Good luck pal, sounds like a pain but these cars ain't always easy, that's M ownership. Sounds ridiculous though, think I'll stick with the two pipe and an easy MOT!

Thanks 👍 hopefully be back together next week and get the old girl on Surrey Rolling road to see what she puts out in January 😬 At first I thought it was too loud with the 2 pipe modification & pre-cat delete but it has really grown on me, sounds really evil above 4,000rpm (proper drive out video to come soon)

@stoneautomotive4 жыл бұрын
The car “feels” great for the pre-cat delete + remap but who knows how much was the map or removing the pre-cat as they were both done at the same time 🤷♂️ What I can confirm is having the remap avoided the check engine light & removed the cold start which is worth it in its self as it was a right racket in the morning and spinning the shells up from stone cold.

Question, I’m interested in this car specifically and I’m saving up for one. I’d like to save money and do things myself but I’d like someone teaching me how to properly fix my own car. So I’m asking, how do you find a garage that you can trust to make friends and teach you how to fix, tune and modify your own car?
@stoneautomotive3 жыл бұрын
Hi Justin, best advice is get yourself into an owners group, plenty of people happy to offer advise 👍 www.m3cutters.co.uk is a good one in my opinion With regards to finding a suitable garage that one is tricky and really comes down to what’s available in your area unless your willing to travel.

@@betterthenyou99 it’s detailed in this video but essentially the rear silencer is cut open and tubes in the back box covered so the exhaust noise increases. 1.5 pipe mod being the smallest change & the 4 pipe being the loudest. 2 pipe seems to be the most popular option
