Brilliant video!! Was thinking of doing the same on my M2 Comp as well. However, after a little research on Forums - I now know why you 'butchered' the dust shields. Fronts are relatively straightforward but, rears require the removal of the emergency brake assembly and wheel bearings!

That is one clean car, the undersides are immaculate. Did you keep the brake pedal pressed in whilst undoing the brake lines, I see that some do and some don't.
@db8gsr6 ай бұрын
thanks ! - nothing was pressed on the brake pedal when the lines were disconnected. The motiv power bleeder did its job pushing all the old brake fluid out and air bubbles.

Heavy brake upgrade. I would go with the 6 pot calipers from the G80 M car and some decent 2 piece 380x36 discs. These are really OTT for an F8x car
@db8gsrАй бұрын
A 2 piece floating rotor would be the best option to save weight over 1 piece steel while keeping the same 400x36mm front and 380x30mm rear diameter. Ceramics are nice but costly
@JohnnyLehti Жыл бұрын
I did this upgrade on my M4 last summer but after driving two miles they went off again. The car just gor worse. The crazy weight of the discs destroys both comfort and handling compared to the stock brakes. Each front disc weighs 30 pounds! And this is the worst place to put more weight on. I went for ceramic brakes, which my car had from the factory and the difference is big! I removed 40 pounds on the discs alone compared to the comp steel discs.. The car feels great now, suspension works much better and the car feels light.

At a price that most people don't want to spend.
@JohnnyLehtiАй бұрын
@@beastofackworth that is true. The question is why people change them and personally i think it's mostly for looks as you can use the stock blue calipers for track with a better set of discs in the same size and better pads, as proven on Nurburgring. Anyways, it looks good :).

Great video pretty sure this is the only vid on KZbin of this. But there was no point in sucking out the old fluid. You literally performed a flush with new fluid anyway
@db8gsr2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate it! - old OEM brake fluid had to be at bare minimum because I switched to ATE race fluid. Eliminates some of that guessing much quicker whether old fluid is completely out
@Ally.MacMillan6 ай бұрын
It's good practice to remove as much of the old fluid as possible, no point pushing more old fluid though the system unnecessarily. 👍
@Mad_Max_2 жыл бұрын
Great job, I have a question if you feel any more weight in the brakes, from what I read on the forum you weighed both sets and probably not a big difference in weight between them.....
@db8gsr2 жыл бұрын
Thanks !! I really didn’t feel the additional weight going around corners. Even accelerating from a dead stop, it felt normal. Also the steering feel didn’t change either. Maybe slightly but not significant. The M2 CS steel brakes are essentially the same as well. Now that I have the M2 CS, I think back and that the M3 CS should’ve came with the same larger brakes from the factory and not the blue brakes.

Hey, nice video. We few friends from M world have question for you. 1. Did you made some change dsc/abs coding? 2. Can you tell me what difference is from the stock brake system?
@db8gsr4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I did not make any additional coding. I view this install set of brakes just like any other BBK 6/4 upgrade i.e. Brembo GT, Stoptech, AP racing etc. I can tell you that off the bat, there's a significance pedal feel and stopping at just the slightest touch of the brake pedal compared to the stock 4/2 blue brakes. Very happy with this upgrade for a fraction of the price on aftermarket BBKs.

Have you done any track days with the 4/2 stock brakes VS with the M2C brakes? Any difference in stopping power? And this does mean when it comes to swapping out pads you’ll have to remove the whole caliper for the pads to slide out. Whereas on the stock m3/4 brakes you just pop the pins and slide the pads out the back correct?
@db8gsr4 жыл бұрын
yes that's correct. Stock blue brake pads is held by a retaining pin and the pads will just slide back up. For the M2c 2nh brakes, you'll have to remove the caliper bolts inorder for the pads to come out. Stock 2nh brake setup has a noticeable bite compared to the blue brakes.

Yes AND No the F80 came with these brakes before the M2C was even out BUT to get these brakes on the m3/4 you needed to order the carbon ceramic option

Which is why these are a direct fit on this cars with no modding necessary. He only cut the heatshields because he did not order the Carbon ceramic F80 backing plates. But he didn’t need to because cutting saved him a lot of money
