At some point on our trip, the steering head bearings had to be changed.
The bikes already had 62,000 km on the clock and the locking in the middle position when turning in was noticeable.
You can feel it quite clearly, there may also be several resting points. But it's not as if everything would fall apart after another 500km.
We first noticed the bearing damage in Fairbanks and drove another 4000km to Seattle.
Here we show the absolute do-it-yourself variant without special tools, because you normally need a puller to remove the bearings.
Tools:
-Chisel/flathead screwdriver
-Hot air dryer
-Hammer
-Chisel with 4mm dagger tip (a sawed-off nail will probably work too)
-Tools for dismantling the fairing parts as well as fork tubes and the front wheel (Torx in different sizes)
-Longlife bearing grease
