I just received my Adventure Spec bars today for my 2016 F700GS, can't wait to put them on. Thank you Riley for the video and honest review. Keep the videos coming, I really enjoy watching them here in Oregon.

Those are nice bars. Really saved my 800 from a lot of damage.

I have the SW Motech racks. They are great. You can mount Hepko, Givi or soft bags. I'm using the Wolfman Expedition Saddlebags on them now and they have withstood tons of abuse.

Hi George. My toolkit is a little overboard as I am the bearer for several of our members who shall we say tend to forget to bring tools. The key is to be able to remove and replace both wheels as well change a flat front or rear. For the rear that means a pretty big 24 wrench or socket. There is a great thread over at Advrider on F800 toolkits if you would like a specific list. I can't include URLs in responses but if you Google "F800 Toolkit Advrider" it is the first hit. Cheers.

I also have the Adventure Spec crash bars and have made use of them.... One thing that's not easily appreciated about them is that they provide good clearance from the ground when you go down. Other crash bars might allow a rock to stickup and still harm the body work, not so with the Adventure Spec bars... Also, they provide a great place to prop your legs up, giving your legs a rest and allowing air to flow up your pant leg. A joy only those with Adventure Spec bars know....!

Great review. How about a full review of the bike and all the mods you've made? Would be very helpful to other owners since we all know the bike is prepped for anything.

My crash bars shipped yesterday. Thanks for the review. I machined all the pieces for the rear shock mount upgrade. Still need to upgrade tires and add a few bits before ready to take the f800gs off road.

Nice video Riley!!... I just to have the BMW bars, but after my first crash they failed. Broke one support of the engine and my plastic suffer a lot. Now I have a higher bars, Krauser, 5 cm lower than yours. They are good, but I haven't test it yet.

These saved my bike last Saturday. I was a bit concerned that they would not protect enough of the upper body but so far no scratches and only on crashbars paint + bended gear lever (few pushes fixed it and is working even better now). I got a spare from touratech for a long trip as it folds nicely to store away.
@AwesomePlayers10 жыл бұрын
Glad the video was helpful. I was riding with someone this weekend who had the SW Motech bars and they don't go up as high. His plastics did get scratched. I would put the folding shift lever on and keep the factory lever as a spare.

Totally agree, thought of doing it right after typing my comment :) BTW - am considering modifying these bars to add extra pipes covering higher body as well as sides of engine. I do not know why they didn't thought of that. Also, there might be a way to protect both break and gear levers from bending too. I'm going to make a prototype soon i think.

webcoder.eu My bike has been all the way over and the bars have kept everything safe. Too much extension creates a lot leverage and these bars already bend left to right pretty easily.
@webcoderltd10 жыл бұрын
Awesome Players I was thinking more of adding some protection to push away branches or grass that may scratch the upper body. Additional pipes on both sides would be slightly bent toward the bike thus not taking any real impact force absorbed by the more sticking out pipes and as you said handle bars.

webcoder.eu Interesting. Stuff does get between the bars and body and I have a few scratches from that.

Really informative video, I am doing what you were initially doing and conducting some research. I happened to stumble across your channel. I recognised your bike from a few of your other videos not realising who you were. I saw the drop during the BMW rally and also the front flat tyre Sunday morning video where your bike slid ±25ft. I agree with what you were saying about the bars that fasten together under the beak - I believe I will go for these Adventure bars, as we say here in the UK "the proof is in the pudding" meaning your bars have done exactly what you bought them for. Keep the videos coming and thanks for the info.... Appreciated

Really like the Adventure Spec bars. Some guys used the SW Motech with great results as well. They don't go as high but very solid. The new kid in town is outbackmotortek.com/ . My buddy Dave is using a set and look and work really well.

Hey, thanks for the video! How about the luggage bars on the back? Who make them? How do you like them? What bags and what else have you mounted to them?? Thanks and keep the videos coming !! PS: You are my main inspiration to put my 1200 for sale and get a 800. Cheers!!

Taras Kompaniyets The bike is living a happy life doing what it was designed for - you may see scrapes & scratches, but ADV bikers see character and memories. Just shows the bike is getting used for its intended purpose. Each to their own, I think it looks fantastic with with scrapes
@AwesomePlayers6 жыл бұрын
Exactly my thoughts. A lot of folks buy a bike and then immediately seemed focused on maintaining its resale value. If you keep a bike 8 or 9 years most of the value is gone anyways so you might as well enjoy it.

Did you get the crash bars from a CDN distributor or order direct from their website?

I will do that next time I'm filming.

I was thinking about buying this kit with bash plate. But I have one BIG question. To service the bike you you need to take it off? It seems to be an awesome system for protection but is it in the way to service costing 100us extra of work?
@emil826 жыл бұрын
Don't know rates in other countries but in Sweden is about 100us per hour.

Hi, people say there is a limited place for legs especially when one uses these crashbars for f800gsa. Do you agree?
@AwesomePlayers8 жыл бұрын
I'm 5'10 with a 32" inseam and i had no issues. The only time I really noticed it was on a track day. When hanging off the bike while cornering I could touch it but actually started using it to brace my legs and liked it.

I have the same! If they are bend to one side, you just take a piece of wood and a very long hammer, find someone who is stupid enough to hold the piece of wood while you are hitting it full force to bend it back to it's former glory (more or less).
