You’re going to have to take a few links out of that chain before it’s used by date, and should have definitely changed the sprockets at the same time so you don’t get unnecessary wear too early..
@MotorcycleFettlers Жыл бұрын
Fair point regarding the sprocket, although the sprocket was fine. We didn't actually need to change the chain, as we realised that it was the cush drive that was the (known) issue. We decided to change the chain, anway, as we already had it and, therefore, didn't bother with the sprocket.

Thanks for the feedback and question. We've not tackledthe rear shock so I'm afraid we don't have any useful advice.

Nice and useful video ❤. At what kilometer on your odometer you changed all these stuffs ?
@MotorcycleFettlers Жыл бұрын
It's done around 6500 miles (10500 kilometers). I think that the cush drive rubbers wearing at this mileage is a common thing and I suspect that it is the same for the chain roller. We could have left the chain as it was not too bad but we changed it anyway.

This video is a great great time saver! Can you give us the part number of the cush drivers in order to find them in eBay, please? Thank you very much sir!
@MotorcycleFettlers3 ай бұрын
Hi, I don't know the part number but a call to BMW Motorrad is all you need. This is an inexpensive part and getting if from BMW is the cheapest option that I've seen. You'll be surprised how inexpensive BMW are for some parts.

I noticed you did not replace the upper chain slider pad (name?). Not sure what the proper name is. This wears as much as the roller. Should this not be replaced at the same time? If not, at what mileage should it be replaced?
@MotorcycleFettlers Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about the slider, we did not notice any unnecessary wear. To be fair, with 6k miles on the clock, I was surprised that we needed to replace anything. The main thing that we noticed was that the cush drive rubbers were worn. We then decided to replace the chain, however, in hind-sight, I do not think this needed relacement. When doing this, we noticed that the roller was also shot, so we replaced this as well. You may be right that the pad could also have done with replacing. From our experience, these parts are not overly expensive from BMW so the pad may be cheap enough to replace, regardless, once you're in there.

How long did the bush and chain last on your bike?
@MotorcycleFettlers4 ай бұрын
I don't know if it was the original chain when I bought it. I changed it at around 8k miles. The chain was probably OK for a bit longer but the bush was trashed.

Can you tell me how many kms you got out of the chain and Cush rubbers before they needed to be replaced? We have 2 of these bikes and they both have a lot of play in the Cush drive area.
@MotorcycleFettlers Жыл бұрын
The bike had around 9500km when I bought it. The cush rubbers were very worn and I assume these were original. I do not know if the chain was original but, actually, it was fine even though we replaced it. I think the cush rubbers are known to wear. They are inexpensive from your BMW Motorrad dealer.

My 310 bike chain is completely loose. It comes without a pin lock, so how to tighten it now.😢
@MotorcycleFettlers4 ай бұрын
Sorry, not enough information. Sounds like you may need a new chain if there's no adjustment left...
@enamulhaque18314 ай бұрын
@@MotorcycleFettlers yah there is no adjustment left, I'm worried about this 😕, although I put new chain and sprocket
@MotorcycleFettlers4 ай бұрын
odd. I'd check it was the right chain length but other than that, can't help, I'm afraid.

Yes. We did unload the suspension for the chain adjustment.
