This channel is brilliant. Thank-you. Just want to share my experience in case helpful to others. I had the same issue, having pulled the blue cable after a 12v battery fail. I unscrewed the ~8 screws around the wheel arch to loosen it and found that it gave a little bit of access to the blue cable. At the top of the arch, it’s possible to get hold of the cable as it goes on its final vertical section. I jigged it a bit - with the intent to make it as loose as possible near the locking motor. And it worked! Only ended up doing this because of this video. Group 1 BMW were quoting £1253.51 to ‘replace the central locking drive high voltage socket’. They are calling Monday to ‘book me in’. Won’t need it. THANKS!!!

I have done the charge port lock actuator replacement on an American version i3 charge port. It was not necessary to remove the quarter panel or jack up the car or remove the wheel. A 1 hour job that required a special pentalobe bit.

I can charge at home with no issue. As soon as I go to a dc fast charger it throws an error, it happens at every dc fast charger. The dealer wants $4k to fix by replacing the fast charging cable. … any experience with what could be throwing it off? I’ve seen people replace HV cables but not sure… any thoughts???!

Hello , I just found your channel. My i3 just lost its ability to charge. The level 1 charger seems to work ok but the DC fast chargers throw an error, the dealership wants$4k to replace the 2 prong fast charge port on the vehicle saying it takes 3 days to replace…any experience on how to get that fast charge port corrected without the expense??!!

So sorry to hear about your problems, 4k does sound like a lot, is there an independent garage that can take on the work? There is quite a lot to take apart to get to the parts but I suspect they are quoting 3 days to ensure they have plenty of time to do an unusual job. I think as BMW have an effective monopoly on repairs they can charge more than you or I would think is reasonable. Hopefully the fault is not in the Dc-dc part of the inverter or that could be even more expensive. Please keep us updated 🤞
