The shock tower looks like an early idea of a McPherson strut.

It’s funny all the mechanics I see call it all thread, in the machine shop we always called it threaded rod. ( 6 of one half a dozen of the other I guess ) LOL

Technically they are leading arms. It is a version of the Dubonnet front suspension.

I'd really like to see you return the Scirocco to stock. It's rare. I know original colours and whatnot aren't your thing, but that's a car worth saving. I've been photographing car shows for many years in the UK and don't have a single photo of one. I do have photos of about a dozen Singer roadsters however (none of them yellow...). Where'd all the Mk 1 Sciroccos go?
