I had this bike last month and just swapped it for the R1250 R for the summer, the K1600 is a special bike and you’re exactly right, you can do 100 miles on the motorway and when you get off you don’t even realise you’ve been on a bike , it’s sublime , but it’s jewel in the crown is just how it “ looks after you” 😂 it’s like driving a car with the windows open, most bikes are like “ I can go fast and throw you in that hedge if you want…up to you I’m not fussed “ haha , whereas this bike is more like “ Don’t worry I’ve got you it’s only a 200 mile trip I’ll let you know when we’re nearly there “! 😂

I have a 1600 B that I just love. The GT is similar to my B. The GT is even more sporty and a little more performance orientated. The 1600 motor is incredible. ❤ Gaurenteed to put a smile on your face.

This was SO good!! I was supposed to be off to bed, just after 2am, and now look what you've done! I won't be able to sleep until I've watched a video on the GTL. I can only pray that it stop there... Thank you for the entertainment & that truly frightening ride!! I loved how the external cams had you pottling about, and the first person messed up my breathing pattern. Hope you've had a good year since. Easy sub!

I love this review! I'm tempted to pick up a used one and give up my versys 1000. My only concern is the size and degree of knee bend.

The is surly wonderful as long as you don’t have issues with them. These bikes can be a challenge to own. They have there own minds due to massive amount of sensitive sensors. Out of no where, engine light comes on. Moreover, engine could shutdown at any speeds. To reset or clear the light you need to get the GS scanner or run to the dealer. Dealers in the USA are running low. Make sure you have one close by. Parts are expensive and hard to get. Working on them is not easy, compare to many sport touring out there. I have owned 2 and no more for me. Some may be lucky to run high miles with no issues, trust me, they will come. It’s a shame cause I wanted to love this bike. FJR is a fantastic bike compare to the K. I moved to a new Goldwing and I will never look back.

Thank you for posting such an honest appraisal. I have read a few 'honest' reviews, and it is these that I tend to believe the most. Ironically I also like the FJR, and am currently tempted between the two.

@@BibtheBoulder Look, the K is a truly fun, powerful machine. The new gen GT is a beautiful machine, just be prepared, in case you run into strange issues as they age/ pile miles. The FJR is a trouble free machine. Whatever you ride, ride safe.

The GTL is a rockets, so I decided on the R1250RT which is lighter and very Flickable

I have the same dilemma; I keep trying to convince myself that the RT is enough (which it is I guess), but I've always loved the smoothness of my old 1100 Blackbird and an extra 2 cylinders is a no brainer. Its just so heavy though!

I’ve owned an 19’ RT since new. Today I’m buying a K1600GT. RT is a very good motorcycle, but if you’re really into crushing big miles, the ‘1600 is the way to go!

Iknow what you mean, I drive 2014 K1600GT Mutch beter driving like my old Yamaha FJR 1300. Very smooth to acceleration, for speciale movements. Super

Adventure bikes aren’t doing anything better than touring bikes. They all have lackluster engines that are low on power, and they corner like pigs because of their height. It’s really apples and oranges.

Have you driven an R1300 GS or a Ducati Multistrada V4s or even a S1000 XR? Specifically the GS R1300 is probably the best handling road bike our there. And I am someone who loves the K1600 for everything it offers. I am on my 2nd k1600 but also have an R1300 GS and previously had an S1000 XR. But
