November last year i took my EP3 Type R my car on track round the Silverstone GP circuit, i fitted some pretty aggressive brake pads for the trackday. When i got back and gave it a clean both sides of the car felt like 80 grit sandpaper. Another 4 months gone and it needs a full decon again just down to the crap weather, lots of tar.

right now its not that important but yes sunlight on the panels even in spring start to play a factor. we move from crappy winter where its good to clean and detergents dont dry up but 2 minutes afte ryou clean it its dirtty again... I've got Gtechiq C5 ceramic coating on the wheels, so I'll be giving them a close look and maybe put on more or some other wheel protection on top of the C5. very surprised you didnt 2 bucket method when washing..
@ForensicDetailing4 жыл бұрын
it doesnt make any difference, if you have a rinse bucket full of dirty water then you are not pre washing properly with the right product (thats much more important). but if you put your contact soap on with a canon you dont need the "wash" bucket. so you just have a rinse bucket to clean the mitt. So foam canon contact wash with single rinse bucket is sort of the same as the 2 bucket method. thing is car needs physical decon once a year anyway, if you physical decon with clay you have to polish.. so all this bull stuff about best methods of working etc... its all just that BS. clean your car however works best for you but after a while you will come to the conclusion a lot of what you hear on you tube or whereever it comes from is just industry jargon.. when you first discover detailing people are very "receptive" to all this glamour stuff like think creamy foam, and very expensive stuff and 15 bucket wash methods.

John, your car is always very glossy. In this video, you used K-C FSE which is PH 2,5. Please, could you clarify when to use or not to use FSE ? My car is only sealed so most of the time I use K-C QS just after a maintenance wash. I use FSE only to remove stains.
@ForensicDetailing4 жыл бұрын
use FSE when you have some water spots would be my advice. Its PH is low because it contains hydrocholoric acid but in water small amounts. I had some tiny water foot prints I was going to top up the protection with SC Mist but soon as I saw the footprints I switch out the FSE.

@kinnonmcallister4 жыл бұрын
I would try a clay mitt or a mild polish like SRP for example.
@ForensicDetailing4 жыл бұрын
yer this is the problem and the more agressive brushes and chems you use the more you risk dulling the finish over time. basic things are just clean more often dont let it build up. Autowheels from built hamber can really help clean when deep when you go in and do the contact wash. Over than this look at a ceramic coating for satin finish perhaps (ive not used any to give you a recomendation)
@chrisclokey48404 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the replies, I actually thought I was using pretty mild cleaner. Either bilberry or auto fanatic wheel foam and wheels woolies and a dedicated wash mitt. The car and the wheels also have a Getecniq ceramic coating applied.

Please don't pay BMW any money whatsoever for the Supagard protection that they almost certainly would have tried to sell you. Its like at least 10 years old technology and not very good either. I said no thanks.! But they put it on for free anyway after they tried to flog it for about 360 quid. Your question is very difficult to answer there are so many good products out there. Personally I used Turtle Wax Hybrid sealant. It was taking the detailing world by storm at the time. Two coats applied on the day I got it and 6 months later its still beading like crazy. Yes it's pretty cheap compared to ceramic coatings etc. But if it's doing a great job I see no reason to change it. 👍🏴

A good mate of mine had his plates cloned, it caused him never ending problems for well over a year, and various court dates! As you show the make and model of the car, then give the #plate..... In the end the police gave him a sticker (not saying what, to put on the back of the car somewhere) so it could be identified, that he was the rightful owner. You may not see it as a problem, but to the unscrupulous, it's an invitation!!!!
