Solid ? look for cracked rear sub frame mounting points. Also look for rod bearing failure. And why not looking for head gasket failure between cylinder 5 and 6. Not talking about hydraulic unit on SMG cars.

Not a carbon fiber intake manifold, the csl is the only one that has a carbon airbox. It also doesn't have cruise control, the button on the steering wheel activates MDM (track mode).

Yes, and the DSC Button activates the track mode. Even if DSC does not work at the moment XD (check lights on panel)

Dima K it’s entirely possible that he just had DSC off for the drive, which would illuminate that light! Usually when the system isn’t functioning you get the DSC and red brake warning lights, sometimes the tyre pressure warning light as well (usually all related to wheel speed sensors)!

I had the e46 M3 convertible in Phoenix Yellow and that car was simply the best. The rasp of the exhaust, the acceleration was just the best. He is right when he says it is not fast, it is simply nice. I still miss that car :(

just buy a decent Nissan 350Z EU spec with LSD, trust me, it's the same fun to drive, just way cheaper.... the cheaper maintenance goes along with the cheaper materials and pretty much no sound isolation inside, but if it's the driving fun you're after, the 350Z is spot on :)

That was "nice". But the e46 M3 really shines when you go just beyond that edge. You drove it well and felt that it was excellent but really you're missing out on the rear end magic that this car has for you. In reality any E46 M3 is excellent. The S54 matched with the chasis and the LSD makes this car "Magic" IMHO. Thanks for the good video.

I can't believe that the reviewer couldn't find some time to get to know the car specs and special options.The button on the steering wheel is "M-track Mode activation" button and the air intake system isn't made of carbon fiber on this model, it's identical to regular M3.

Only the CSL got the carbon fiber intake manifold I'm afraid. That being said, the Interlagos colour was rare, with only 1145 examples of the e46 M3, be it manual or SMG, coupe or converitble, LHD or RHD, exist worldwide in said colour. The most common colour is Carbon Black metallic, with 22121 of the 84383 units world wide being in that colour.

SMG isn't automatic. It's the exact same 6MT transmission but with hydraulics to shift gears and actuate the clutch. Remove those and the SMG can be converted to manual w 3 pedals without even removing the transmission if you use a self-centering shifter. Not an automatic.

I felt in love with the E30 M3 when I was 6... I was always a fan of the BMW M divison... IMO the E30 was a legend... E36 was a miss (the north american verison was a piece of shit n I was diappointed in it)... E46 to me it was the iconic... it paved the way for the E9Xs and the F3X$.... The exterior of the E46 M3 paved the way for the later M3s... that inline 6 was just a masterpiece... the noise that engine produced wws just music to my ears... I am sad to say the M divison just don't make M cars they used to...
