BMW M3 GTR logic: In Rockport the car has taken multiple cops, road blocks, light/heavy SUVs with no damage but in Palmont gets totaled by Cross just reversing right in the bumper.

@@kilian20v metal pipes...the player dodge tht...the reason it was totaled because the player had to escaped from high speed chase in rockport and went to palmont... after tht cross was behind chasing player by surprise and force the player to hit the gas hard to the bottom of the canyon until the engine is totaled....well we didnt hear the engine stopped in the scene but its makes more sense....

Besides the sound not being exactly the same I am so glad that we have this car again Most Wanted 2005 was the first Need for Speed I played and I immediately loved the car, its one of my favorite legend cars in the whole franchise. And I am not the only one who hated having to damage it in the final mission of the game to get it back, cause that hurt my soul when I figured out I had to damage it

Yea i really wanted to point that out since he used a video recording the interior and not the exterior which is mostly what the Heat version follows, it's not gonna be as loud or as crazy as it sounds in recordings, it's much more clear and open then that.

I mean lets be thankful that they've made the V8 powered M3 GTR, the actual GTR, and actually put a whinny note on the engine sound *shrugs* Edit: I would've improved the handling. As a GTR it doesnt turn very well Edit 2: Also about the straight-cut gears, the actual aggressive one is the 2004 M3. Heat has the 2006 M3, but id prefer the 2004 tbh. But guess better than nothing

Here’s a fun idea: What if the reason why the BMW M3 GTR was slow (stockwise) and different sounding because when the car was found, they had to replace even the engine because the car was totaled? Yes, the P60B40 could’ve been rebuilt but at the same time... The P60B40 was an engine made, mainly for the M3 GTR, and the GTR (race car version, not the street-TR) has parts that aren’t suppose to be out in the public. So in order to not have people like the feds to catch Frank Mercer for example, they’d have to ditch the engine. So the car would’ve been rebuilt, but not so that it performed like it’s 242mph variant in the original Most Wanted, and the engine along with the transmission could’ve been replaced with something similar sounding. It also explains why the straight cut gears aren’t as loud anymore since they’re not as loud nowadays. And if anyone is wondering, the car they used for the engine files back in Most Wanted for the M3 was a TVR. I forgot which one though. It was either a sagaris or a cebera 12 speed.

@@Rob-326 The knock off dj atomica from Payback actually knows and mentions the black list, the run and the street king title, making me think that all games (after underground 1) are in some way connected, if not all in the same "universe" so to speak. Think about it; She asks the audience about those events, I doubt she's some sort of god. And the games with the respective events are also connected to other nfs games: Most Wanted to Carbon and both Undergrounds (people coming from Bayview, "Look at what the Underground let loose", half the cast from MW in Carbon). There are a lot of little nods towards this in all games (both made by Ghost AND Blackbox themselves) with the only exception being Undercover, HP2010, MW2012 and Rivals (I wouldn't count the street art logos from Heat as evidence for this, as the people "living" there wouldn't know that Payback for example stands for a specific revenge story arc or other names.

Fun fact: In an earlier story mission, the M3 GTR is spotted WRECKED on the back of a tow truck in the chop chop cutscene. This could indicate the car was racing around Palm City already!

The V8 in heat sounds closer to the real car but the straight cut gears sound closer in the car from MW05. Also yes they used the E92 engine (that’s what I thought too) BUT they don’t actually sound identical (I’m talking the V8 itself forget about the SCG)

I feel like although the car is nice and the sound is good, the engine itself needs a better performance. The rev range should be way higher than it is. The only remains of the m3 gtr straight cut gears are in gear 7, and swapping this engine in any other car will not bring it up to 400+. The car itself doesn't have tow hooks on the MW2005 version (probably the player took them) one of the tubes is missing compared to the nfs version.

The V8 engine used in this car sounds like it's using a cross-plane crankshaft instead of the flat-plane crank of the P60B40, which would explain the generic muscle car noise. This coupled with the lowered stock performance such as power output (about 100 less compared to the P60B40's 400+ bhp), identical handling to the stock E46 rather than superior handling contributed by the roll cage and stripped entirior and a much lower rev range. On top of having a quieter straight cut gear noise (sounds more like a really loud supercharger than the mechanical whining of the original gearbox in my opinion), this car is not a perfect replica, not accounting for the 1 error made with the livery, or the fact that the exhaust tip has the heat plate while it's not supposed to. But it's good to see that Ghost studio can make a decent attempt at replicating it anyways!

Carbon has both colours really dark and i dont really like it that way....we keep either getting goddamn white with super dark blue or really dark silver with dark blue.....

Technically but not completely, even outside of the car the P60B40 had a higher note, this sounds more like an E92 or a muscle car to me. Having heard the P60B40 on an engine dyno and have footage of the car racing by at the Rolex Reunion and during testing at the nurburgring the note still needs some changes

This engine note is from the outside where as MW ‘05’s sound is from the interior (even though there’s no interior view) so why the interior sound wasn’t used for this game makes sense since there’s no interior view at all as opposed to NFS Shift, the ONLY series that has an interior view

I have a feeling it was the main character from MW and Carbon since I don't think he would let this special car go after working so hard for it.

In the mission “follow the law” the M3 was sitting on the flatbed in the shop & the 2 cops who were talking about it mentioned something along the lines of “picking it up from a racer the previous night & it looked as though the guy was going to cry & Mercer would’ve loved it.” So by that logic since it’s supposed to have been the Hero car from MW & Carbon the car was recovered from the canyon & restored back to racing condition quite some time before Mercer got his hands on it. Who exactly “the racer” was is still to be determined. Maybe the hero or somebody close to the hero from that time

I think the sounds are more towards current engines because if you look at canon storyline, the car was totalled in NFS Carbon. And it makes more sense that the car has more modern engine & gears, since the car needed to be fixed.

I Think the reason behind that different engine noise and the transmission is its swapped with new parts, because the car was totaled. that car need a new engine and transmission, its because the original m3 gtr engine is extremely rare and no aftermarket spare parts for that car. Darius take the car from us and sell it to someone else to change his $150k that he gave to cross to save us, and after 13 years probably the owner rebuild that totaled m3 with new parts... That all my theories sorry english isn't my first language XD Anyway great video thumbs up

The problem with the looks, and I cant remember who, but another youtuber touched on this, is that the Heat version uses a gen 2 kit, identified by the steel plate around the exhaust, but the Most Wanted one uses a Gen 1 kit, with not plate. Also they used the M2 Motoring hood in Heat, when in Most Wanted, Blackbox used the M3 GTR hood, so the body lines up by the cowl are a little different between the two, and the vinyl in heat is also not accurate to Most Wanted, which should be the original design for the car carried over, since THATS the version they were trying to replicate, even if it isnt 100% accurate to the real gen 1 or gen 2 m3 gtr. I do love the additional details though, it's kind of a shame the other lemans spec cars in most wanted (the gt40 Castrol car, C6.r Corvette, and the 911 GT3 racecar) got tow hooks and trunk latches and things, but the M3 GTR didnt

You actually forgot to mention that the rear tail lights is wrong. The taillight part for the reverse light is a older bmw m3 e46 light. The first models, 2000 and 2001, was equipped with these non LED light, but what annoys me is that the reverse light is non LED but the brake lights are. They should either use the old non LED lights or use the full LED lights. In Need for Speed most wanted, the reverse lights was LED, but not this one in heat. You can also see that the white part is like “fully white”, but in nfsmw they are just a thiny stripe with white light comming out of it. If you wanna se what i mean, search for “Bmw m3 e46 gtr street version” which was equipped with the old non LED tail lights. Then after you’ve done that, search for “bmw m3 e46 LED taillights”. You will quickly see that the bmw m3 e46 LED taillights has the same brakelight in need for speed heat, but n the reverse light. The “bmw m3 e46 gtr street version” has the same reverse lights as in need for speed heat, but not the same brake lights.

I would say after cross wrecked Hero's BMW it landed in police custody as one of the most Wanted vehicles in NFS history. After Hero left olimpic city then Bayview then Rockport and finally lost it in the canion I'm pretty certain it was confiscated by the police and probably redone so the car could be used for undercover on the force given Heros reputation across 4 city's an officer thats undercover would take full advantage of hero's rep and Car to weasel their way into the underground street racing world.

The visuals are about 95% accurate, the Heat car has the metal plating around the exhaust, but misses what I think is the fuel cap in the rear right window. And while the MW car was naturally aspirated, in this video I could hear what I think is turbo when letting go of the gas. Also, interesting to see how EA admit that they haven't made a truly iconic car since 2005.

Also I have both the M3 GTR and M3 E46 in game both with GTR bodykit and engine, all the same mods, the E46 feels heavier, obviously the GTR been a race car is lighter and Is a lot more responsive to turning, it takes turns at higher speeds, but I find the Street M3 easier to use in fast races due to it drifting better

I’m just glad they got the m3 gtr in the right direction as far as nfs goes because I’m honestly tired of the regular v6 engine from past nfs games prior to 2015 this is a relief now it’s only got to get better from here so I don’t think anything is wrong with the sound from nfs heat because keep in mind they probably just wanted to see what we think of the sound and how they can make it better anyway

One thing to note is that in the original most wanted 2006, the interior in the cutscenes of the game has the normal stuff such as doorcards, no rollcage, and the usual.. but in game it had the rollcage and different seats... Well.. they got it perfect in Heat though.. the sound is a bit meh since straight cut gears start after 5th gear...

It's still the original from Most Wanted/Carbon, however the reason the sound is different from what it used to be, is because the motor and transmission sounds (like majority of the other cars in Heat) are from Turn 10 Studios, and are sounds from Motorsport 7 & 8. They did cut corners with the handling of the GTR because they just copied and pasted everything from the base M3 E46, and mainly because of how they've gone with all handling since NFS 2015. I personally just wish that they only gave you the car after you beat the game, and not make it buyable in the Dealership, and same goes for the other E46.

for looks I'd say they nailed it with this car reminds me of Most wanted 2005 all over again. It's got the sound from Carbon,though that does leave everyone here with a lot of questions. Last we saw the car was totaled in Carbon Canyon outside of Silverton,and yet Frank Mercer got his hands on it somehow.

I like to think that the original owner (( the character of the 05 Most Wanted game )) rebuild it after it got wrecked over the span of the years it was gone. I mean, The guy went thru hell and back only to get it back after it got taken away, So there must be some commitment. And if something like that would happen to me, I would want to rebuild it as well, for sure. But that process takes time. I guess Frank just got it the same way as he got the rest of the cars. Which breaks my heart for the original owner.

what made this car legendary was three things, it's story, it's looks and most importantly it's sound in heat's story mode the m3 gtr doesn't have any context, it feels forced into the game, and worst thing as an antagonist, I feel bad for having to basically destroy the car the looks... 10/10 no question about it, nailed it the sound.... what made me really love this car it's the orgasm you feel when hearing this car (like in the nurburgring clips), in heat, this doesn't happen and that really disappoints, I know it sounds more realistic to nowadays engines and gear shiftings, but I would have prefer they simply recycled the most wanted's m3 gtr sound

NO YOU ARE WRONG!!! the hood isnt the original m3 gtr hood, its an aftermarket hood from m2 motoring, which was used in previous nfs games and isnt right for this car. the outlines and vents on the hood arent right and so isnt the vinyl on the hood right. just compare pictures from most wanted 05 to heat, you will see it. pls update your video

@@StanceSantos are you blind? compare the outlines on the hoods, the middle section is much bigger and round in the original mw05!! and the vinyl goes to the edges of the windshield in mw05, in heat they make a bow to left and right to the edges of the windshield

They've only done that so the blue stripe runs through the inside vents AS IT DID IN THE ORIGINAL, i dare you to try and make a more "accurate one" you will struggle trying to get it to stretch to the outside while also running through the inside vents, also the area on the front fits around the bulge in the hood AS IT DID IN THE ORIGINAL, if you're not happy make your own video

I'll be honest I'm quite the noob at engine swapping so I go by whichever has the most potential HP and add that. However the original engine even with Ultimate+ parts didn't go to 400+ rating and the new engine doesn't sound nearly as good as the original

u can see the bmw m3 gtr in a cutscene before the ending. on the mission where ana and the player find the barn with the cars it was in front of thier 2nd hiding spot behind ana's 350z but it seems to be wrecked

my headcannon is that the heat player and mw/carbon player are the same and that mercer obtained the car by confiscating it from another racer (likely the no limits player who gained the m3 in a special event) when they were overwhelmed by the high speed task force after joining the league

I would say this is the most legendary car to never exist. All of the cars in movies were actually built, but this one wasn't. The M3 GTR existed of course but not the NFSMW GTR.

I'd say the sound is almost spot-on. The clip you're showing is from the interior which obviously doesn't have the same sound as the exterior.

The only thing that's bothering me about the m3 gtr in heat, is the engine sound and the livery for the hood and the hood itself, becuase the hood in MW 05' was just a stock M3 E46 hood but with the vents and the livery lining up with it, especially the two vents on the rear bumpers and the little lip on the trunk, if they added all of that, it would look perfect, and also the metal plate where the exhaust is. But I can at least appreciate it's THE M3 GTR instead of a E46 with the gtr bodykit

Here is my theory of how did Frank Mercer might have bought the BMW: 1. Since the start of NFS: Carbon we can see the BMW got totaled because of the Truck getting in the way. + With being Cross in the Cutscene, Maybe after that Cutscene he might tried to fix the "Totaled M3" and decided to Sell it to Frank Mercer who might be his "Old Friend". 2. It's possible that The Collector from NFS: Payback was trying to search for the "Long Lost M3 GTR", By searching it on the Internet, Founded that Mercer got the vehicle, And then The Collector wanted it, So he buyed the M3 and some of the illegal vehicles that were transported into the Ship (In NFS: Heat). That's all of my theories, Just had to throw it out tbh.
