how much horsepower can the original 2.5tds injection pump handle, is it half-mechanic also?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using that pump? I also have a 25tds and I am considering many options

Pros is mechanical is simpler and easy to adjust fuel settings yourself and will be more reliable in the long run. Cons is i had to remove the cold start timing advance on the pump to fit as i didnt want to notch the back of the pump carrier on engine so its hard to start cold (as in sitting for a day) once engines been running for a bit it fires up instantly. That and the mechanical pump can be hard to find used and expensive new.

Yes, it is the 2.4 pump. Wiring is pretty simple, power to fuel shut off solenoid, glow plugs and crank starter.

Hey, i removed the cold start advance solenoid off the pump instead of cutting a notch in the pump carrier. Would’t recommend doing as its hard to start after its been sitting.

Set it to .90mm lift, cant remember if i advanced it sightly as its been awhile. Either way, used a dial indicator with an adapter for bosch ve pumps.

The pump i used is #0460406047 there are a few different verions/part numbers but any mechanical one from preferably a turbo m21d24.
