That JB weld on front of the block is the weep hole to verify your coolant pipe seal has failed. Someone plugged it with JB to stop the leak, backing it up into oil system. But for being blocked the mixing of fluids is impossible.

I wonder if the JB trick created some pressure in that well which later broke the timing cover seal. The transfer pipe is the output of the water pump.

This hole is designed for water drops once the pipe seal is failed, some one blocked the hole to prevent leaking water out the engine and then water leaking mixed with oil , this is all story :)

use 12 point wrench instead of remove VANOS!!!
