I think this is a great review. You get it. My sealed road touring bike is a 2016 R1200RS. I use it on club tar runs and overnighters camping, pub stays and Rallys. I live in CBR Australia and visit my dear old mum on it a few times a year (around) 1000klm + each way in 6th gear. Big open riding. The bike is comfortable, reliable and fun. It is a 2016 model and is very cheap to maintain. At 82,000klm I have just been through the final drive - now all good - greased and full of lanolin (was dry but in good condition). I'd by the 1250 for the TFT screen - my KTM 790R has one and I want one for my roadie. This is my 3rd boxer (all high mileage) R90S, R80G/S now the 1200. It is great to be on a boxer when you are a long way from home.

This is the best review I have seen of the 1250RS. I'm trying to decide between the 1250RS or the 1250RT. Your review has helped me confirm my choice for the RS. Thank you.

I have to complement the author on his excellent review of the R1250RS. Although English is not your native tongue, this is probably the best review I have seen. Many other English-speaking reviewers don't come close to your analysis and understanding of this underrated bike. Good work.

Dynamic pro doesn't give more throttle response than dynamic. Dynamic pro allows you to mix and match different throttles responses with different traction control. So you can have rain traction control with dynamic throttle response, if you wanted.

This seems to be a common misconception. BMW should have kept it as "User" in my opinion, but easy enough once you know

Your review is thorough and the only one with the panniers a sport tourer should be shown with that setup. Good job!

Having had both the 1200 and 1250, I believe OnroadDotBike's review is accurate. The 1250's gauges are better, the power is better, the lights are better. It also has options that were not available on the 1200 at first, Hill Start Control and the Dynamic Brake Light. Both versions are great bikes, the 1250 is just greater.

You reviewed the air flow situation with a peaked helmet. As this bike is categorised as more of a sporty type of bike (definitely not an adventure bike) maybe a normal full-face helmet might have given a different result with the air flow?

Very good review and very good reviewer. In comparison to the R1250R with the same engine this bike has more "on the hands" riding position. Some riders say that this one vibes more than R1250R. Is it true? I rode RNinet 2019 and the vibes are too much for me, but it was not a ShiftCam model. How can you comment this? Thanks in advance. I am always watching your reviews.
@DAVJULART3 жыл бұрын
The R1250 with shift cam and R1200 are the latest generation of water cooled boxer engines. The RNineT uses the previous generation of boxer engine with an oil cooler only I believe. The old air-cooled boxer engine had pushrod valves and was used in the original R100RS 40 odd years ago.

Hi, excellent review - I've found myself looking at the RS as the only real sport-tourer on the market (1000SX sacrifices a lot of pillion comfort and Ducati Supersport is... well a Ducati). Do you have any feedback on the bike agility in the city? How easy it is to handle between cars and move around in tight corners and streets? I have no experience with boxer engines and from the videos they just seem to stick out immensely and make the bike very wide.

@@pawelbu4672 still waiting on the deliveries to normalize. I want the '22 white one and for the last few months local bmw dealer official purchase contract is pay the deposit now and expect pick-up within 365 days... it was usually 90 days before 2022 decided to be 2022. At this rate a used one might pop up in the desired spec before a new one becomes available and I really want it for the planned trips in july/aug Edit: forgot to mention - decided on the RS

If these BMW and say Kawasaki bikes were left out in the rain, salt and snow, how resistant would they be to corrosion and is one brand better than the other? Thank you from UK.
@OnroadDotBike3 жыл бұрын
Personally I had a 2006 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure. We spent together 157 thousand km and ten years. Lot off off-road - and I was riding during all the winters. There was no corrosion anywhere. Now the bike is far over 200.000 km. So I'm not afraid of corrosion in the case of my F 800 GS neither. :-)

Bmw is the better brand in durability and quality. Kawasaki is however more bang for the buck. I've owned Kawasaki and my dad always had bmw's never had he ever had rusting bolts or parts. However my 2018 kawasaki ninja started showing rust signs after 2 years (Keep in mind. Our bikes were stored in our shed which is heated so low humidity. I also always cleaned the bike after each drive with a wet wipe never the water hose.)

Only on the break discs. I leave mine out all the time. Rain, Frost, Snow and Heat. The only thing I take off is the Nav because it’s not that waterproof when stationary. It’s my fifth RS.

I get that English isn't the reviewer's native language, but can't figure out what his summary statement was. The bike is close to an "echelon" of its class?
@AdrianoTeixeiraRocha3 жыл бұрын
I was thinking exactly the same.
@davidmcmillan84082 жыл бұрын
I would guess that by 'echelon' he means 'yardstick'. He's saying that the RS is an optimum example of what a Sport-Tourer should be. I may decide on the RS next, although it can't quite compare to my current (sadly now obsolete) Sport-Tourer, a K1300S MotorSport.
@Pyrrho_2 жыл бұрын
@@davidmcmillan8408 I had a R1100RS and K1200RS prior to a R1250Rs. I liked the ergos and power delivery of the K better but the 1250 is over 100 lbs lighter with more HP and torque. I liked the carrying capacity of the 1100 more, but this has almost double the torque and way more HP. I'm 6'4' 180 lbs, using the sport (highest) OEM seat option and the stock footpegs, with a HeliBar handlebar riser and MRA Variotouring windshield. This RS is the noisiest & has the most wind buffeting of any of my RSes.

Are you seriously comparing a Inline 6 1600cc motor bike weighing over 345 kgs .to a 1250cc boxer motor weiging 240 kg? It's like comparing a harley davidson to a kawasaki ninja. This bike is meant for curvy roads and touring. K1600 is solemnly meant for touring. Sure the k1600 still handles everything like a champ in the corners.
