There are plenty of lessons here for me unrelated to the specifics of the BMW. I would not have been calm and methodical by this point.

Calm and methodical is easy Rob - I can edit. Ha ha! How are you my friend? Doing well I hope. 👍🏻

Watching now Joe. I liked your safety tip about centre stand 👍 dk

Yes. I learned the hard way. I bumped the Beemer with the VStrom from behind once and it was just enough to push it forward and off the center stand. Fortunately it fell easily against a stand I had next to it. Minimal damage.

Seeing Klaus up close I can appreciate just how good a condition he is in. I am learning a lot as I’ve never split the drive train . I am fascinated to see the outcome of your investigation. My bike currently has the swing arm and transmission out too. 🤞

It’s a pretty rust free bike. It has its wear and tear spots, but it’s in better shape than many. I pulled the swing arm once before to have the u-joint replaced, so I was familiar with the disassemble. I haven’t pulled the transmission before. It needs a clutch anyway, so I can kill 20 birds with one (expensive) stone. Always good to hear off you. Joe

Sorry it wasn’t an easy fix for you Joe. I was with you when you bought the differential fluid. Fingers crossed as you dig into it.

Smells like the transmission output shaft bearing. We’ll see. Keep everything crossed up Dave.

@@JdilpkleRS Hurry up Joe ... Toes can't stay crossed much longer ... It's KLR Doohickey Day for me. I was so jealous you got to tear apart Klause, now it's my turn.
