Thanks much. Your videos are a fantastic product of the internet age. This used to be "dark knowledge" that was only known to the High Priests in the back of the BMW dealerships.

The only true Achille's heel of the BMW as far as I can tell (and what an absolute faff it is to get at it: special tools, giant breaker bars, propane torches and all just to open a cover!). Good bikes otherwise, let's hope my R100GS does me the kindness of breaking down at least close to home...

thanks a lot for the amazing tutorial! Could you maybe indicate the part numbers for the circlips for the gear selector and the gear pawl spring? Many thanks!

I think the cam high point slammed the delicate helix gear. What kind of clutch use would compress and decompress the spring to fast?

If the two cam plates are not synchronized properly with each other (off by a tooth or two), is it possible to engage two gears at the same time and destroy the transmission?!
@motophoenix59514 жыл бұрын
That is not something I have ever tried.

Mr, I'm working with my R80 RT about output shaft at home for hobby, I demostrated top hat collar's oil seal so I must change a new one, Can you explain how did you removal it? or a new movie if possible, thank you very much..

If the bush is still on the input shaft, the small oil seal in the top hat can be simply levered out with a screwdriver or something similar. The replacement can be gently and carefully tapped in place with a hammer and drift (punch) that is roughly the same diameter as the seal. If the bush is off the shaft, push the seal out from behind and carefully press a new one in place by squeezing it in using a vice before pressing the bush onto the input shaft. Hope that helps and good luck.

Do you have any tips on installing the seal into the tophat? I have read it is easier to put it in from the back when the topcoat is off.

I find pressing the seal usually gives best results. Just go carefully as you start to bring pressure to bare, make sure the seal is not tilting. I've never tried putting it in from the back. Good luck!
