Bmw R1150gs - Fuel filter + lines replacement

Just pulled my pump out of a 70k 1150gsa. the u line had a hole. All the others had disintegrated down to the braid. Ton of debris in tank. Thanks for the video. It showed me a bunch of helpful info..

I actually had the same issue on mine. Did you replace it with a metal U-bend like @motodans?

Great work. Yes that u shaped hose is stupidly expensive. I recently did this job to a new to me 1150RT that hadn't run in about 6 years allegedly. All rubber in the tank had turned to a semi runny sticky hideous licorice. It ook me 2 hours to clean the treacle like mess. And that was with Aussie fuel. I can only imagine how the tank internals would look in the States after the same period of time sutting in ethanol. Yours looked brand new to me. BTW all of the bmw. Mahle petrol filters are dated. It's usually a pretty good indication as to how long they have been in the tank.

Wow that sounds bad! Haven't seen them do that before, mine were nothing like that. Good to know, i chucked the old one out so unsure what the date on it was.

Thanks for watching 👍 I was under the impression that was no longer made? I had that chip on my old 1100 it went really well had a k&n filter and an open exhaust on it to though. Probably going to be leaving this one stock as far as that goes. Well we will see 🤣🤣

Thank you Dan. I observed that you did not change the in tank breather hoses. Is this necessary, and how is it done? When I changed my filter, the level gauge must have been obstructed on something, as the fuel gauge does not read correctly. Is there a particular method of replacing the sender unit assembly back into the tank?

I haven't changed mine when i had the sender unit out i just visually inspected them. To replace them if you remove the filler cap ( mine has a ring of torx bolts ) remove them and it will lift out and that is the other side of the hoses. No real method, there isn't really anything to get caught on unless it was one of the breather hoses?
