I have a late year 2017 R1200 GSA with all the bells and whistles. My previous motorcycle was a Victory Vision Tour. What you are saying is true. You can outfit it to meet the needs of your day's ride. When riding local, usually just a tank bag. If I plan on going a few hundred miles, I will put the panniers on. If I want more air, windshield low, conversely, less air windshield high. With the riding modes you can tailor and quickly adjust the suspension to the conditions. Absolutely great power and torque and a dream on an 80 MPH Interstate. In the transition from the Victory, my biggest issue was learning how to mount and dismount smoothly and getting accustomed to the light controls. I am tall 6'4" and 280lbs. I can flat foot it no problem with a 32" inseam and my seat on the highest setting. The BMW feels light with the low center of gravity and is very easy to hold upright at a stop. I have seen some pretty tiny women do amazing things, so height is not as much of an issue as technique. My only recommendation is you be well past the novice stage in your skills. This bike is definitely intermediate to advanced, and give yourself time to acclimate before you get really aggressive with it. For me it checks all of the boxes.

G. Great to see you out there enjoying riding. I just returned from riding in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee on my 2018 Goldwing. However, others in the group had a R1200GSA, R1250RT, and a couple of Multistradas. I had no problem keeping up!

I'm going to test ride a 24 GSA this weekend. Hope it will be good for two up long distance touring. Started with a 17 Goldwing, traded for a 22 Goldwing then traded it for a 23 RT. I feel cramped on the RT hope the GSA will have more room.
@GBeWinginIt6 ай бұрын
The GSA will certainly have more room. Enjoy that test ride. I’m coming off a Goldwing DCT TOUR AIRBAG and I do not miss it at all. There are compromises to be made all around but as a complete package I’m satisfied.

No cliche’. 100% agree on the Swiss Army knife versatility of this beautiful motorcycle. All around. Agree. The scalpel precision in which it can be ridden in capable hands is a sight to behold. Gbe has been witnessed by many in dense NYC traffic the nimbleness of such an adventure scalpel. There’s a rider by me that has this exact spec’d GSA and rides it like he stole it. Serious apex predator. A real pleasure to see him mix it up out there. He’s full on ATGATT! You said. Ride what you ride. Just have fun doing it! Thank you!

I love the versatility of my Ducati multistrada V4 Rally and my Husqvarna Norton 901 expedition. there’s something about adventure bikes that just cover all the bases in my mind. Thank you for sharing Beautiful video ride safe 😊

You are correct! Adventure bike do cover all the bases.

Love mine. Full on touring bike, commuter, or stripped down sport bike. I've even strapped firewood to the top of the side cases. I don't normally take the cases off because I carry too much crap. Also had a Gold Wing Tour - I'd say this is equally as smooth. I tend to ride in Dynamic mode, Road suspension mode, and Auto pre-load mode. Love the 1250 boxer 👍

I thought I would miss my Goldwing DCT TOUR AIRBAG more but that’s not the case. Great bikes nonetheless.

I have the best of both worlds, a 2020 DCT Goldwing and a 2011 BMW R1200GS. Goldwing is great for two up touring with my wife. The GS is great for me alone scooting out around town or on a short ride thru the countryside. The versatility of the GS and its looks are the reasons I still have it. I don't want to think about a chain driven bike again. Don't miss the hassle or the grime it creates. My only complaint with the GS is the seat height. It is designed for someone a bit taller than me.
@GBeWinginIt6 ай бұрын
That shaft drive will certainly spoil one. That's a huge reason why I chose it over Honda's ATAS that boasted a lower seat height.

Considering my 3rd GSA as well. The first one (1200) felt too tall, wide and heavy. The second (1250) felt better but my wife did not like the wind. I had an RT which was amazingly practical but not as magical. Currently on KTM 1290 SAS which is a monster. But as expected, not great for distance at all. Considering a Ducati Multi V4 rally, but will probably get a third GSA and keep her for the long term, now that I have more bike experience and know what is important to me. Really useful hearing your experience from a goldwing. Thanks!

GBE you should put it in Dynamic mode 😁. The R1250 GSA is an absolute beast of a motorcycle much more capable than most riders but makes every rider feel like they are the best rider ever!! It is a phenomenal bike !!

Yeah, your bike is far more versatile than mine... I added the tour pack so I can carry more stuff comfortably and lock it up. Originally, I thought I'd only use it on longer rides, but it's cumbersome to install/remove, so I just leave it on all the time :D

There's a lot to be said for the overall utility you get from a motorcycle. However, there's always a compromise to be found and looks are subjective.

When will you get the r1300gsa? Not enough wind protection vs your wing. Connie has a easy to remove my top case and panniers. Not a fan of tank bags.
@GBeWinginIt6 ай бұрын
Not a huge tank bag guy myself, and will not consider the 13 or 1400 GSA when it comes out. Not much of the latest and greatest type of motorcycle buyer. The 1250 appealed to me because it was in production since 2019.
