BMW R18 Roctane | Review | pros & cons

Short review of the BMW R18 Roctane with pros/cons, equipment, technical data, test drive, acceleration etc. The BMW R18 Roctane is the fifth model in BMW's R18 series. With the Roctane, BMW apparently wants to win over Harley and Indian bagger fans. The Roctane not only looks beguilingly good, but with the 21-inch front wheel, the dragster seat and the low-lying integrated panniers, it has exactly the right ingredients for this target group.

Its the BMW version of the Road King Special exactly down to the fit an finish. Indian did their RK clone with the Springfield for the past couple of years. I'd like to see all three in a head to head review.

Love the looks, but I really didn't like the jugs being that close to me legs. Overall a beautiful bike, but not enough for me to buy one.

In my opinion a 21" front wheel always makes the steering too light... a 19" or smaller feels more planted...

Owning a Harley is an adventure in life but owning a BMW or Jap. bike is just a cheaper alternative knockoff. Just not the same. Like that old saying goes there are Harley Davidsons and then there are the rest. Same for cars with Mercedes Benz.

Do your homework before you embarrass yourself. They were never designed after Harley Davidson's.They were designed after the 1936 BMW R5.
