BMW s1000xr ('21) GoPro chin mount test

This video shows a little test run with a newly mounted GoPro mount on the chin of the riders helmet. It's just a little clip to check the angle of the GoPro and the sound quality. The external microphone is placed in the the pocket of the jacket on the right side. (same side as the exhaust)
Some pops are so loud that the microphone won't record them properly.
Setup BMW s1000xr:
- Arrow collectors with Titanium Akrapovic muffler (without DB-killer)
- K&N air filter
- Driving mode: Dynamic Pro
- Evotech axle sliders and frame protection
- BMW Motorrad Connected ride cradle
- SW-Motech Pro Daypack (tankring front and rear)

View angle, picture and sound quality awesome 👌 What external mike did you use? How was the setup, just put it in your pocket or any extra measures? Almost zero wind noise or rustle 🤏👍

The external microphone I use is similar to the "Rode VideoMicro", with the "WS9" windnoise protector on it. The microphone sits in the right pocket of the rider facing backwards. Make sure you don't put anything else in that same pocket (keys etc.), because you hear them while recording.

Great quality on sound, man. I have a hard time getting it right for my bikes and the sound I get doesn't do justice to the Akra on my MT-10 SP 😅

It's a process, I tried many different things in order to get it right. Since I bought myself a leather suit I need to test what works best again, because the microphone doesn't fit in the pocket of the suit. I did read good things about an external wireless microphone recording in a tank bag. So maybe I'll try that in the future.

Hi, is it necessary to remap having removed the catalitic converter? I'm looking to buy an xr in spring and knowing how the full exhaust sounds idk if the akrapovic muffler will be enough for me 😂. Do you know if the sound is improved bypassing the valve without removing the catalitic converter and remapping? Cause I really don't want to loose the BMW warranty

A remap isn't a must, but it is advised by many. Bypassing the valve in the original exhaust doesn't give a "better" sound, it makes sure the valve is always open. So it is louder at all rpm's instead of only at certain rpm's and throttle positions. But that's my own understanding of how the valve works. You should definitely ask your local BMW dealer for the answer from a mechanic or person who knows his stuff. I'm only making assumptions based on my own knowledge and experience. My local tuner told me that a ECU remap will definitely void the warranty, even though the engine should run better since it's adjusted to your specific riding conditions. Assuming that the OEM factory ECU flash is adjusted to "general" conditions and the stock setup.

@@Jamessshortlife nope. You lose the catalytic converter with the Arrow headers, but those are stock parts from Arrow and Akrapovic.

Nope, you can toggle it on the left side. It's the same button that you would use for the dampening settings. You'll need to push it upwards. You can configure ABS "off" in the Dynamic Pro settings menu.
