Excellent video, picking up my first BM in a few days time (E90 M Sport) , I thought it was just mine that suffered with the peeling wheel surround but after viewing a few I realised it must be a 'thing'...was going to dip it as I have in the past with gun stocks and a few bike bits but glad I found your video, double thumbs up!!

Greetings from the U.S. and thanks for the video. I'm going to look at an e92 out of town next week and it has the same issue. It's a shame to see something like that in such a fine car but most every car model has some sort of minor inherent cosmetic flaw. Seeing how easy this one is to fix will make it much less of a concern for sure.

Great video - I am just about to do a Z4 M Sport wheel in the same way as part of a detailing job before selling on. I am now thinking of doing all the internal metal trim with the same paint as I prefer the Matt Black over the silver. Thanks for the inspiration 👍

@@TheBimmerFixer so I tried it out on a spare peice of trim yesterday. Wasn't too fussed about my paint skill, it was more a rest of colour for my E46. Which is very, curiously close! But what I've found is the paint seems to scratch/mark easily. Just a finger nail will leave surface marks on it. Did you find the same or has something not worked on mine?

Hey, i would recommend you one more way to remove the old paint. Take the brush and DOT4(could be the used one) and take it all over the item. Next leave it alone for about 10-15minutes and after this time take the dish sponge. Pour the hot(but not boiling) water to the basin and add some dish cleaner. With the rough part of sponge get the old paint off.

Idk if i put too much i wrapped in in dry scott paper and poured the liquid on it making sure it was on all the surface sanded it in 150 amd finished it in 320 pretty happy with the results even tho here in canada ended up costing me 60$ for everything lol but its cool i discovered a new skill and i even re-sanded it to make it cleaner cause i had "scratches" that the nail polish made in the plastic that were deep i used some potty and sanded it and repainted it and im satisfied with the result!

Great video guide, although I might just try and buy a replacement trim, seems like it would be a lot quicker - However I'm betting it won't be cheap even for a simple piece of plastic with an M-Sport badge so may change my mind and follow this instead 😂

Good effect, thanks for the video. What about Audi interior "plastic" that's soft to the touch and can easily come off with your finger nail? Are there any products other than your typical spray paint that could help bring back that feel?
@TheBimmerFixer
@TheBimmerFixer 6 жыл бұрын
Farseer1995 Thank you for your comment and your welcome. The Audi is the same if not worse. In the summer heat it can peal just by itself it's crazy. I have seen some other products online and did try one years ago. It was a spray on plastic but I found that to be as bad as the original paint. I found that the Matte spay paint gave me the best finish and was the most hard wearing. Hope this helps 👍

Listened to this guy did the exact same thing same brand of nail polish to be sage and this shit ate the plastic of my trim fucked it all up and ive only left it for about 15 minutes i been sanding crazy for 30mins to remove all the dents it made

@mtlnikeplug-rz6rp Sorry to hear that 😟 I wonder why it's done that, I can only imagine something has changed in the nail varnish remover. I might have to try it again with that same nail polish remover to see what happens.

Hi Spaceman, thanks again for your comment. I had the same problem in my e46, that was a dark grey. I couldnt find the right colour grey so I stripped it like the steering wheel and painted it black with the same paint as the steering wheel. It looked awesome so I did all the trim to much. Might be worth doing that Spacman, it will be worth it and you wont have to worry about it peeling again. 👍
