Transmission malfuntion error is failsafe mode for the transmission to protect the transmission for any major problems while any fault is present. this can be inconvenient at the moment it hapeens but the only way to know the real answer to your problem is by reading the fault codes witha expensive scan tool that support BMW transmissions

My dealership told me It wouldn’t be smart to replace my trans fluid & filter due to Viscosity differences and recommended my original life factory fluid was suited for my car. I have a 07’ 650i (E63) and It shifts a bit clunky. Other then that the cars great 91k miles

@@BellaNoir3 well a bmw dealership is trying to persuade me to replace the transmission for $8,000.. versus fixing the problem!! I was told by a sister company their trying to get a big commission check versus $1,500-2,000 they would normally make.. the car is still sitting at the dealership for six weeks, ill pick it up next month and leave in my driveway

Hi Francisco, thanks for all the good educational videos on your chanel. I own a regular 2012 750LI and recenlty a transmission malfunction light came up and the car went into the safety mode you explained. I plugged in my Autel MK808 and 400341 popped up. The symtoms before the light came up was that the car will not shift properly in the lower gears and after hesitating for a few seconds it will shift normally and pick up a normal acceleration (no codes registered during those conditions) but today the code showed up. Have you had any experiences with this code? Is it a serious issue? After watching one of your videos on how to replace the trans fluid and filter I feel confident that I can do it. What would you recommend I replace while doing that ?

I have 2011 750li 107k miles trans code: 400126 - solenoid 3 (parking-lock holding magnet short circuit to ground or open circuit) I have already replaced plug adapter,4 stem seals and bridge seal... I have a 2012 740I and when I push the button simply to put it in park it goes to neutral with a message saying use the parking brake to ensure it doesn't roll. Consult a service center. Is there an easier fix?

Hi I have a 2009 bmw 750i I have been getting a Transmission malfunction warning so I took the car to a indy in my area. When the car was first diagnosed it was sending a code that said the shift solenoid C was the problem so I purchased solenoids and transmission fluid, filter and all. My mechanic checked it out and said that it needed fluid. To make a long story short he tested the solenoids all of them were good so he added fresh fluid and a need transmission filter so he did that I went to pick up the car today and it was still showing transmission malfunction. Does anyone know if the transmission needs to be reset for it to work properly with the new fluid and all? Any help will be appreciated Thanks

Hi Guys have bmw 2015 3series diesel automatic transmision 8gear.Question when I driving on M+S it’s says on the dash S7 but not showing 8gear.Is this normal or it should show S8 when I driving 140-160kmph.I thinking maybe it’s not shifting into 8gear.But drives no problem no lights on dash nothing.Can someone explain me please?

My 2007 BMW 525i will make a click sound in the actual gear shift then is stuck in z1st gear and won’t shift u til I turn the car off then it’s stuck in park and I use the gear shift release to out in drive but then it’s stuck in first gear again. Then I the. The engine off and on some times it will shift and be fine until I hear this click sound again and it’s stuck in first gear.

What does my 2015 528i twin turbo get this code 420641 while I'm driving and the auto engine button doesn't work but if i put the auto H button the problem with the gear changing to neutral and then to drive until i have to restart the car but if i have the auto H button it won't cause the problem as much but it still does it and then if i have the auto H on and turn on the sport or eco function it will go back to comfort and it won't go too fast or the turbo won't work properly. The code it gives me is 420641 and it only gives me the code whenever I that problem happens and i have to have the code reader connected to get the code but the code says that i actually pressing the Park button on while driving(moving car) why does it do that and i can't find no one that can actually fix it cause i live in a small county and the nearest bmw is 2 hrs away.

I have a BMW X5 2010 3.0 xdrive . The car goes into limp mode when going up an inclined road and when gear in changing from 4th to 5th. i notice because i put the gearbox into manuel and it always slips meaning the revs go high as if in free for a split of a second then goes into 5th gear. if its on automatic it would go into limp mode. The thing is i changed the gear oil and also the o rings and gaskets. Cannot understand if it's a solenoid or a gear . BMW cannot identify the problem telling me i need a new gearbox.... can this be the situation?

Yup me to goes into limp mode when it shifts into 4th gear if you drive it manually skip 4th to 5th and 6th can't remember to skip 4th back down but I've done it once and I've also changed all six silllinois and new fluid if I remember the megatronix which looked like it had a crack in it but I didn't really think much of it because it was just a piece of plastic that still functioned if anybody has any info that would much appreciated

What's up Francisco? I got this code on my 2013 740i this morning. I filled my car up Tuesday, it sat for a day and when I went to start my car this morning I got a rough idle and the transmission malfunction warning on the iDrive screen. I did not turn the car on, I gave the car a little gas so it wouldn't shut off during the rough idle and then my RPMs just settled out just below 1000RPMs. I let the car warm up, drove 25 miles to work, no problems. I will drive it home soon and I don't expect any issues. I scanned with my Autel MaxiCheck MX808 and I don't see any codes I should be reading. Do you know where I should look? Thanks in advance.

@@adamtorres8303 I took mines to the shop also and it was low on transmission fluid they raised it up more on the driver side when refilling and it took 2 more quarts after originally thinking it was full

I have a 2007 528xi it moves forward but won't go in reverse and also in P. When I press the P it goes straight in N it flickers but doesn't move as if it's already in Park. The only time it starts moving in reverse for a little bit is when I reset the transmission module. What should I look into? Could it be the solenoids or something else? Thank you

I have an automatic car is doing funny things First when selected Drive or Reverse it would just jump back on its own into Park. Now its not doing that anymore. Now when i select reverse it goes into reverse and as soon as i get close to something it was sound an alarm, but when i select Drive it goes into drive and goes forward . the alarm disappears but the reversing information is still on the dash screen even when i put in Neutral. Hope i can get some help from you or someone on this chat

That is a simple thing to fix. It’s distance based. The car displays the rear backup camera info when put into reverse, the information will not go away until you travel a far enough distance forward to make it disappear. Like 15 feet or something.

If it goes into gear sporadically check the connection in/on the trans for fluid contamination. Can cause communication issues between can bus and trans

I have a 2012 740i BMW replaced my bad battery and now my bmw don’t want to go into gear ⚙️ transmission malfunction sign pop on my dash…bmw told me it’ll be 10k to get a new transmission…i believe that’s bullshit cause my car didn’t have transmission problems after they placed the new battery in…so it’s just parked outside my home and still runs but won’t go into gear…I need help & information on what to do next

@@choppercitydrew you can try resetting the transmission by getting in the drivers seat, close the door to the car, pressing the start button once (without your foot on the brake, do not turn the engine on) press and hold the accelerator all the way down to the floor for 30 seconds, then press the start button again (turning the car off), open and close the car door and then try turning the car on and see if the transmission malfunction disappears.

I have a 2008 535xi battery had died tried to jump start did not work, i had the car towed home. I put the car in to neutral manually to move the car and now the shifter is flashing the neutral light. I replace the battery and the car still marking neutral and will not start. Any information would be a big help to get this fixed.
