For anyone else wondering: The fill capacity is 5.1 quarts AWD or 5.3 quarts RWD for the turbo N20 in the X3. A liter is just a tad bigger than a quart. 7 liters is waaay too much.

When you buy a "Kit" like in the video, you end up paying about twice as much as you need to. But the items separately on Amazon. You DON'T need to use BMW brand oil or oil filters. Just make sure the part you buy are compatible with your vehicle.

This is for a Diesel so gas might be different but Oil filer housing Tightening specifications: O­ring slightly oiled, 1. initial tightening 30 Nm, 2. release oil filter cover 180°, 3. final torque 40 Nm. Oil drain plug Tightening specifications: Replace sealing ring, tighten 40 Nm.

6L? I just had mine done and it took 4.4L where I'm still worried since BMW said these engines f25 (n20) take 4.8L.

They offered a 2.0L turbo gas/petrol and a much less common 2.0L turbodiesel.

yep, i got one of those rare 2.0L turbodiesel. Great engine for me so far. Very efficient engine.

Love my BMW X3 but have learned that it is better to have a professional do the oil change and other regular maintenance. Find a non-dealer who specializes in German cars.

Went through the same thing with a Volvo with no dipstick ! It's infuriating to have to rely on the electronics and their maybe right or wrong levels . My anal retention made me sell it . Plus Volvos are junk which i learned . Good luck with the new ride .
