In the higher Rev range it’s an absolute peach, in the lower range is a pile of shit I swapped my x3m40i b58 last year for a X4M Comp and the b58 was so much better at cruising and riding the torque wave. There’s a kickdown switch at the bottom of the pedal travel in the Alfa. You need to floor it and push past the bit of pedal resistance from the switch until you feel it actuate and really bottom. That’ll downshift immediately.

The bmw makes about 480whp stock. With some tuning & E85 fuel (or race gas), & a basic fuel system ($1000) it goes up to 650whp. Pretty sweet if you ask me for those who are tuning friendly. Great video as well guys! Beautiful line up

I don’t know about their engines, cooling, engine builds, tuning potential, stock fuel systems, turbo sizes, exhaust set ups, etc. My comment above was referring to the X4M’s S58 engine which is in many BMW M cars currently. It has a closed deck block with a air to water cooling set up. It has big turbos and a strong and capable stock fuel system.

With a tune on 91 octane, around 550whp (wheel horse power, not to the engine). Wheel horse power is always less. With race fuel or an ethanol blend and a tune, around 600+whp

Absolutely Brilliant Drag Race, here in the states I have to look for an X4 to spot them because for some reason they seem a bit unicorn like. Never did I imagine there was an “X4M comp!!!” Absolute Blockbuster Engine. Also the Italian had the sweeter tone!!

They are shit and characterless. Too heavy too. BMW stopped making interesting cars around 2011 when they started putting turbos in everything. The engines of the M cars since 2012 have been so horrible. They sound awful.
