I agree and recently bought an x5. But this comparison is a bit too broad. The Mercedes, Audi, Volvo are larger, three-row vehicles.

Well I picked the GLE 450, a matter of fact I did so from last October. I spec it and to my surprise last Monday, sales man called to say it's here, picked it up on Friday afternoon. Though I have only driven 50 miles since and it's locked away in my garage, I can tell you this is a phenomenal vehicle, the ride, the tech, the comfort, interior ambiance and lighting. I am in awe of the car and everything about it. After having it in my possession, the purchase price to me is justified, though before I was apprehensive for that same reason. Phenomenal car.

I try nearly everything before l order my GLE...wait more than 7 months but make the perfect configuration for me...after only one week of driving l confirm what you say---comfort and luxury are incomparable and it's worth it every cent!!!

I watched many reviews before my purchase and kept hearing people say you get more for your money with the X5 as far as performance. But I have rented many BMW in the last yr. And they are excellent but I have a MB biased and prefer that ride and attention to comfort and style. For example I got the pinnacle package and I have only driven this car twice since I had it. And I realize I cannot operate without the massage seats. It is fantastic and in my opinion more suitable for me than the X5.

Great review! Personally, I bought the X5 after test driving all of the vehicles in this video and more. It comes down to personal experience, and for me, I just loved the ride and comfort of the X5. It's the most bang for your buck IMO. But just drive them all and see which one sings to you.

have a 2024 x5 40i m sport. Its brilliant. Only negative is missing physical climate buttons and sport and sport + are identical almost. Sport should be dialed back a touch with trans setting.

BMW X5 50e without any doubt. So superior in terms of materials vs the Audis, feels more spacious inside than the Mercedes, has the best infotainment system (8.5 IDrive is impressive), much more fun than the XC90, not even comparable to the Range Rover because they have serious reliability issues and looks prettier than the Cayenne (even if this tastes are different for everyone I personally find that the Cayennes have a too much rounded shape and look like Nissans) Thank you Autogefühl!

Excellent reviews as usual. One thing I would really like you to try is whether you can place 3 large suitcases on their side in the trunk. I find the sloping roof of many of these so called SUVs, whilst deep, can not accommodate a few large suitcases as the roofline hits the corner of the suitcases. A vertical rear window is much more practical for a SUV. I find I can no longer do an airport run in my BMW iX due to the sloping window. You just can not fit 3 or 4 big suitcases.

The X6 never gets enough love if you’d rather have a sportier times five you go for the X6. I just priced out an ex six with taxes. It was 96,000 I equally specked out a Porsche Cayenne S with taxes. It was 155. The only thing that had that the BMW did was faster 0 to 60 time, and not even by one second the X6 all around is the best coupe that is available on the market today and nobody shows it love. I’m certainly going to be buying one for the first time coming soon.

The Mercedes is super. I purchased the GLE AMG 63s over the others for numerous reasons. The esthetics, ride, technology, infotainment, dealership, etc. The performance of each was very similar but I believe the quality in the Merc was superior

I had pre face-lifted X5 and x5m, As a BMW fan i can tell you that BMW always had one of the best price/quality ratio, but after i owned couple of Porsche, somehow i don’t know why but i don’t want BMW anymore, maybe the Porsche emblem has some sort of magic :))) or maybe just the driving performance:)))

I have a MB GLE450, and thus that's what I voted for with my own money. I did check out the X5 and the Cayenne, before I made my purchase decision. Since I'd be keeping this for the long haul, I deliberately skipped options like the air suspension etc., which are all potential failure points for the future. I know this is going to annoy Thomas, but I really wanted real leather, but unfortunately, the one I bought had MB-Tex (or "Artico Leather" as Thomas refers to it), since the combination of features that came with the car, matched my preferences, *despite* the fake leather (Vinyl/Plastic).

Thank you Thomas for this epic comparison. I'm pretty sure that you're is a BMW lover fan 😀. Look the way you're almost excited when it comes to present BMWs throughout this long video. By the way, most of people who have tested the new version of Touareg are coming to the conclusion that it's falsely underrated compared to other 'competitors' if one had to sell those cars at the same price as Touareg. Anyway, puting money aside, I'll go for Cayenne first then BMW X5 second, Volvo XC90 third even though I but I dislike its vertical screen, they'd better set it in a horizontal way. Audi should wake up, her engineers continue to disappoint so many of her lovers. That's so sad!

Great review. I've never bought an SUV because for me most of them look like ludicrous, oversized behemoths, particularly on British roads. Also, I don't want to be hated. I can see the appeal though, hence me looking at this review. The BMW X5 might be the best (and is, according to a lot of reviews) but I couldn't live with those awkward looks. The Range Rover is the easiest to dismiss as its just an ugly lump (as is the Volvo) and will either break down or be stolen anyway. Only the Audi and Porsche look good so I would have to go for one of them if I was forced to. As I'm not, I will have a previous gen. BMW 545e, the last good looking BMW.

The mercedes looks like a blob. I dont like the body design at all. Cant go wrong with a x5 or x6. The Cayenne is also a great choice. Porsche and BMW these days are just better. Coming from a use to be merc fan

I really think these SUVs need even larger wheels to get the design effect that you get from seeing the concept sketches. SUV design just doesn't work with sensible wheel sizes. I would say minimum 26 inches rims with some chunky tires for ride comfort.
