My dad had the Z3 coupe 3.0i. I used to take it for a spin illegally when I was not yet old enough to drive 🫣 Had a lot of fun around Schiphol at the time.

This perfectly sums up old cars being way more fun to drive! You don't need silly amounts of power to have fun, all about the feel of the car and the involvement. Something that has all but disappeared in modern cars sadly. Oh then there's the designs, I mean, this is a cool design, looks better now than it did when it came out! Those old BMW 6 cylinder engines are fantastic aswell. Love seeing this older stuff getting the attention they deserve. Huge fan of 90's cars, peak moto car in my opinion.

Fell in love with this engine. Have 2 E36s with the M52B28 (one with under 100k miles and the other almost 255k) and had a Z3 with the M52TUB28. All an absolute delight to drive.

@@riccardodefina9551 Of course, I had an '06 330ci ZHP back in the day. I still prefer the M52 tbh. It annoys me how really only the M cars in the E46 chassis got an LSD, too.

I heard somewhere that European Manufacturers in the 1990s had a gentlemans agreement that engines that was less than 3.0litres would produce less than 200hp... which is why the 28i had 192hp, Audi had a 2.8 with 174hp Mercedes 280 190hp and Peugeot/Citroën/Renault 3.0 194hp Volvo etc but they were all updated in the 2000s

In Germany the reason was insurance-related. One of the factors back then for the insurance fee were horsepower, and there were categories from 60, 75, 90, 115, 136, 150, 193 hp, and above.

These were rated 193bhp one more than the 2.5, but seen many dyno's of standard ones and they rate between 208-218bhp

Its probably tuned. Even its say schmiedman on carpet(it could have manifold/headers and tune) if you take closer look. 0-100 is normal but 100-200 in 20sec? It pribably have like 230hp

My friend, years ago, during highschool, had a gorgeous E36 M3 in Dakar Yellow with the multi spoke OEM wheels in black, and then after HS when these came out, got rid of his M3 for a Z3 M Coupe in Phoenix Yellow with black centered AC Schnitzer Type II wheels, black tint, whatever that black out BMW package is called, black exhaust tips.... thing looked absolutely sick.... I was so damn jealous of his cars .... and my other friend's dad gave him an E210 E55 AMG 🙄 (that was my favorite, I've should've bought one by now, but with everything that's happened in the past 2yrs, I'm selling off everything just to survive, so it's never going to happen now)....oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️😩

The M3 version is my all time BMW favourite but you have to be completely nuts to put 50000 £ in this car which is more or less the asking price nowadays…
