It's not only the pin that makes pedal strike painful, it is the mass - physics. The more an object has mass, the more inertia it has. Which is why even if you file the pins on a metal pedal, it still hurts more than a plastic pedal with metal pins.

Do modern BMX cranks have the same pedal spindle threads as MTB these days? 16:12 The most expensive flat pedal I know of is the Pinnd CS2+ at £265 (probably about $300 by the time you've imported them)! They are an 'MTB' pedal though so depending on the answer to the above question wouldn't count...

@adrianvasquez96024 жыл бұрын
Jcpcs will destroy your shins and have your shins steady bleeding like crazy but once you get used to jcpcs you can get used to any pedals especially plastic pedals but the jcpcs weigh a lot more then any plastic pedals as well

Super late to the game with this comment but another video that includes pedals without the tightening bolt that allows them to run flush with the crank (Eclat Centric, Primo Turbo, etc.) would be awesome!
@kingcharming12 жыл бұрын
The Centric pedals are so good. I keep recommending them to everyone. I used to hurt my ankle a lot doing high drops and 180's, and that never happens anymore.

Anyone thought about plastic pedal helping to keep your shoes longer!? I remember early 2000 when I was using the wellgo those metal pedals was killing my shoes more than my shins! Do you also know that they created shin pads!? Also for turndowns or tables I found plastic easier to move on.

I recently switched to metal pedals and the pins ate chunks out of the soles on my shoes. I’m considering switching back to plastic.

My most critical opinions: Metal peddles Good: last longer. Especially if they have sealed bearings. Can withstand more damage. I have a pair of ANIMAL Hamilton metal peddles since 2010 (or around then). Bad: metal peddles w/tall metal pins = permanent scars and a week or so of continuous bandaging and reapplying bandages. Permanent scars. If you didn't spend the extra and get sealed bearings, not taking care of them, will make them stop spinning freely. Plastic: Good: light weight. Simple construction in comparison to most metal. Many companies have replacemen bodies. Cheaper in comparison to metal peddles, when first purchased. Some slide extremely well. Larger. platform and styles to choose form. Metal peddles seem to be very limited in style. Bad: if it is a plastic body w/ plastic pins, which are constructed as a part of the peddles body. Expect to be replacing peddles bodies often, as you will be grinding the plastic pins off them almost immediately. Especially if you have a habit of being heavy on your peddles during grinds. This leaves you with pretty much brand new, useless peddles. Purchasing all those repacement peddles bodies, will start to add up. significantly. The cost may make you wonder why you didn't just buy the metal peddles you were also looking at, when you purchased the plastic ones.
@roadrash90243 жыл бұрын
In addition to that, I have been running the Kink Senec peddles for 6 m. Good traction out of the box. I like how you can squeeze the body on the axel, making it unable to spin freely. This helps you land safer when you are getting your feet back on them, before a landing. Same problem I explained before. Slide a couple times and there isn't any more traction. Bodies are $5/piece.

@@roadrash9024bought the kink senec when they first come out, almost had no time to test it since they crack 3 bodies in one month! If they have changed the formula in the meantime I will give them a second chance if not I will sell them an not advise to get the kink senec

Nice video. I take my Mountain bike pedals ( Shimano Saint MX80 Pedal) apart every 6 months. Fur a full clean and lube, and check all bearings seals. I have never done this on my BMX, running Odyssey Twisted PC Pros. Any reason too or not? My Saints get caked in mud grime etc, where the Odyssey's are mainly dirt sand rain. Thanks

Bought the kink senec when they first came out, broke 3 bodies in one month, one of the worst pedals i had accompanied by the wellgo... Now i would have choose the éclat seeker or the salt stealth sb, a overpriced body pedal part but worth it the effort, more companies should come at front at this idea and not trashing the whole pedal when just the body is bad... there is enough trash...

@@younggotti8195 Old comment I know, but try using penetrating fluid like PB blaster, and even *soaking them* for days in the stuff. I would avoid heat cuz it could damage the cranks, but if the cranks are beat, feel free to heat the *cranks, not the pedal spindle* and they'll come right out after a few taps/impacts.
