BN4 is a good and competitive game

You should play Megaman Battle Network 4 for the Nintendo GameBoy Advance. It's one of the best competitive games to ever grace the Nintendo GameBoy Advance. Despite what some neerdowells may try to claim, it is actually one of the most balanced pvp games in existence.

So to people who don't quite know what they're seeing here, BN4-6 have compatability with the Japanese-exclusive e-reader, allowing you to use Mod Cards to customize your game with the more powerful Mod Cards imparting bugs onto MegaMan in battle. Up to six can be loaded at any given time. Multiple Mod Cards show up in this one. In particular, both sides use Max HP Up Mod Cards to boost their maximum HP, and both sides use a special Mod Card that puts MegaMan into a permanent Double Soul at the start of battle (Though due to their power, the permanent Double Soul cards, among others, give MegaMan a HP bug at the start of battle). Lastly, the Metal Soul player here also used a pair of Mod Cards called All Guard, which have no effect on their own, but when loaded together (essentially meaning it takes two slots for the effect), grants MegaMan a permanent Guard effect, rendering him invulnerable to any damage aside from breaking effects or poison. Coincidentally, All Guard is one of only three "two-slot" Mod Cards. The other two are Triple Supporter, which gives you the NCP effects of Rush, Tango and Beat simultaneously, and FullCustom Charge, which, as the name suggests, turns your Charge Shot into FullCust. Also coincidentally, in the Legacy Collection, this scenario cannot happen, as one change the Legacy Collection made was that the All Guard Mod Cards are specifically disabled for PvP matches.

so battle network 4 introduces the e-reader (known as patch cards in legacy collection.) with it you can create a monster amount of hp while still being able to perma unison or like in this video. just guard everything that comes your way. each patch card is labeled with a code 0 *A-F* determining where the card goes, as such you are limited. but you can easily get 2400 hp from the patch cards.(3400 hp if your willing to forgo perma Double soul as chip 101 gives 1000hp.) mind you, this total is without any HP memories. assuming you get every hp memory, thats about 3400 hp base with no hp navi customizer. mind you, the 0B is causing an HP drain bug as well as perma double soul causes the same hp bug. so run a bugfix. (4400 without the double soul but you still have the hp drain bug.) now that the math is done there, you can forgo the 600 from the 0C patch card to get the guard effect (patch code 076 and 077, need both.) leaving you with 1800 hp bonus while making you immune to all damage. Do note that useing patch cards prevents your navi clear data from being recorded at end game. (same with using bustermax. but wheres the fun in useing that) all of this math was done using the legacy collection, as the patch cards never really left japan. if your playing on emulator or GBA cart with these. your only punishment is the HP drain bug.

Even without mod cards Roll Soul's recovery and HP+ navicust is a game ruining combo. BN4 has low enough damage output it's possible to survive the opponent's entire folder

It really isn't. Even without mod cards, It's trivial to combine Roll Soul's healing with HP+ navicust parts to make it impossible for the other player to win even if they get absolute max damage out of their attacks.

@@jairdiaz8984 close. You’re mixing it up with the E-reader. In Japan bn4-6 had e card support and a common one used in PVP was it turned the soul unison into a permanent cross. So while you had the powers of the soul for an unlimited amount of time it disabled ingame records for sp navis and other soul unison abilities.

It's funny you mentioned it but I'm pretty sure it would have been the Roll Soul players win condition. As crazy as the Metal Soul player looks in this, I think they're running the worse of the two builds showcased. I think if they would have played their folder a bit differently, that the RS would have been able to delete the other player. Utilizing bug chain (to ensure that the other players health drains faster) and then popping Duo to finish off the last hit point. They would have had to play around Anti Navi I guess but after the opponent popped/wasted their bug fix, I think they could have won.

As Sean Obihiro states on another comment, 4-6 had ereader support, which allows you to customize Mega Man with new abilities. The shielding Metal Soul has is probrably from Cards 76&77 which make only piercing and drain attacks do damage to you.

There's a bunch of busted patch codes that were japan exclusive you got from merch. One of them is guard all or something that made you immune to almost all sources of damage, others like +1000 hp or more. All of these caused hp bugs which causes your health to rapidly drop, but if you use bug fix, the hp bug disappears. And lo and behold, invincible megaman. Using any of these codes, gives you the penalty of not actually getting the 'clearing' the game when you finish it cause they're essentially cheat codes

battle network 4 introduces E-reader cards. you get slots 0 *A-F* and 2-4 of the slots can be used to increase your hp. you can gain up to 2400 hp and permanent double soul, but you gain an hp drain bug. if your useing the perfect guard patch like the video creator is using, you will only gain 1800. this can be done in legacy collection.

I have never seen any 1V1 fight where both competitors helplessly rapid-fire the basic lemon shooter. Mega Man Battle Network 4 was a mistake. Pokémon Platinum (the absolute worst RPG I've ever played) was at least fair in the competitive field. If I ever join the MMBN Competitive scene...
