First let me request the managers of the show to put up English titles alongwith the urdu title, Because accessing the video with urdu title is difficut. Now coming to the subject, it is very well explained. This is about the State of consciousness called Fana and Ahad sahib has described the state of fana in these verses very lucidly and the explanation given by Nissar Sahib is excelent. All alterations of the states of consciousness are temporary and are just flashes of light experienced by Sufis, which is only temporary and does not last for a long time. Sufi in this state of Fana comes back to his normal personal self after sometime. I am reminded of my description of the state of fana in my book " I am consciousness" where I narrated a passage from Sadis poetry describing fana. When prophet Yaqub was asked as to why he could not foresee his son Prophet yusuf being thrown in the well when he had a such a divine enlightenment. then hazrat Yaqub said, as put by Sheikh sadi: "One asked the man who lost his son, / A noble and intelligent old man. / As thou hast smelt the odor of his garment from Egypt, / Why hast thou not seen him in the well of Cannan?" He replied, / "My state (hal) is that of leaping lightning, / One moment it appears and at another vanishes. / I am sometimes sitting on high heaven, / Sometimes I cannot see the back of my foot. / Were a Dervish always to remain in that state, / He would not care for the two worlds." This means the states of higher consciousness like Fana are just flashes that disappear soon and you return to the body. That one returns to his physical self has been excellently explained by Nissar sahib and has aptly translated " Zinde Rozie baqi meon jism o jan" The state of ‗Fana‘ has also been described in a poem ―The moths and the flame‖ by Farid ud-Din Attar with English version by Afkham Darbandi and Dick Davis, that says; “To go beyond all knowledge is to find, that comprehension which eludes the mind. And you can never gain the longed-for goal, until you first outsoar both flesh and soul. But should one part remain, a single hair, will drag you back and plunge you in despair. No creature‟s self can be admitted here, where all identity must disappear.” The scenerio drawn by zargar saeb describing the condition of the Salik entering the state of fana exactly complements to what sheikh sadi has said in the above poem particularly when he says " No creature's self can be admitted here, where all identity must disappear. Ahad saeb says the same thing: " Yeli Soor u menze chele wawe toofan- phali phali dhoonukh kul kohistan- chali chali trawukh sat asmaan." This is beauty par excellence. Ahad saeb ( undoubtedly the grest Sufi poet of Kashmir;, Faridudin attar ( the greatest sufi of medieval time who wrote the best book on Sufism - Conference of birds- and Sheikh Sadi- the great mystic poet- describing Fana state of consciousness- from three different regions of the world at different times of history saying the same thing. I admire Kashmiri Sufism and possibly the most competent person in kashmir who understands Sufi poetry of Kashmiri Sufis is undoubtedly Nissar Sahib. My hats off to him.
