When I arrive, I had only HK$1000. Worked as a dishwasher at a steak house right away and sleep at the back of the restaurant. After 3 months, I was able to rent a room, go to school in the day time and work at the restaurant at night, sleeping less than 4 hours per day. Lucky to get job rotation in the restaurant as a waiter, cook, bar tender and manager. After graduation, I worked as a professional engineer and earn a MBA, teach part time in college. Climbed the corporate ladder to supervisor, manager, VP and director of the corporation. As long as you have drive and willing to learn and work hard, you can be successful. Cheers to all our Hongkongese... work hard and be successful.. you can do it. Nothing can stop us Hongkongese. We can survive anywhere in the world. Hongkongees are the second highest income group in UK, US, Canada, Australia and EU. 無嘢可以難到真香港人. UK

@@tfung8 you are a winner as a best version of yourself, no matter where you are, you are better than others around you because of your qualities, even HK or mainland China

I started my studies at 8:00 am and went to work right after leaving school at 4:30pm. I slept less than 6 hours per day for past 2 years. Eventually, I got shingles in the last semester. After graduation, I couldn't even get an entry-level job related to my studies. But somehow, the classmate who was free-riding on the group project might get a job and start making big mistakes like they did in the school practice. I guess it is the mechanism of fate.
I do not agree with you said, whether you can get a job depends on your previous experience and whether there is a lucky match to the employer. You only talk about the successfull stories of hong kongers and in fact there must be some successful hongkongers. There are in fact a lot of unlucky hongkongers who cannot get a decent job,or any job at all even though they are capable and hardworking.

I would say what he said can be true, but 1 case out of 10, may be less

Worse, most of these new immigrants can't speak English well, why should the local employers offer employment to them instead of local? Dream vs Reality.
