BNSF Peavine Compilation Summer 11

Compilation of vids from this summer. First vid is a throwaway. I was leaving the Rush "Time Machine Tour" show and figured I might "get lucky" with some UPac yard action. I made a lap and as I was ready to head home I heard a horn. So I went back down the first leg of the lap which crossed over the yard entrance. I see BNSF shuttling some mixed junk to the yard. Given that it was night and the area isnt well lit, coupled with the fact that I dont have much familiarity with the area made it hard for me to figure out what road to turn on to get to the track yet be far ahead enough to postion for vid. I went East on the same street as before and ended up on some street that leads to the Sheriffs Intake office. There was no light to speak of. I U turned to park on the north side of the tracks. I missed the signal start and all horn sounds. Because of no light the vid sucks. Good only for the "sound lovers". Plus, I still had Scotch tape over the cam mic I use when filming concerts as sort of a "ghetto earplug" for the cam so the sounds are muted some. 6/16/11
Second clip is an accidental catch coming home from work. A football field away from the 99th/Grand crossing I notice the signals had just started to drop so I sped up to get there. Stupid Scotch tape was still on the cam from the concert the previous week so ONCE again the sound is muted. The horn on this loco is freakin loud and shrill. This "local" is apparently a regular, nightly event. Positioing cars to work on the Ennis Sub and the rest to leave at the Auto Rack yard Ive gathered. Normal time is from midnight to one. This was 9 20ish. 6/22?/11
Third clip is after leaving Wal Mart. I "thought" I saw train lights way down from Peoria but blew it off. Then decided to loop back to Cotton Crossing to see. Still wasnt sure but also didnt want to miss out by driving if it was. I went down Grand to check and sure enough its the "local" parked just before the short bridge that crosses Northbound Grand. I circle around and decide to position at Olive in the vacant gas station lot. I didnt know how long I was going to have to wait so I hung out by the car. After some time I decided to move trackside. As I am the horn sounds to indicate start up. I get trackside. I wanted to step across as the light would be better (being on the WRONG side with respect to light seems to be a too common occurance with me) but being the "Mr Conscientious" that I am I figured Id better not as they would clearly see me. So I was stuck on "the dark side" to film. 8/8?/11
Fourth follows the same scenario as above but this time my uncertainty and delay in checking it out caused me to have to give chase as just as I was reaching the turn around point on Grand past Olive it was already underway. I barely got into position at Cotton Crossing hence the abbreviated beginning. I have now since figured out that if it LOOKS like train lights it IS. Also, Ive figured out the rough time schedule for this "local". I do want to find out when the power comes back, iIf its at night or in the day after Ennis Sub work is done. 8/29?/11
