It’s a federal law for the railroad use a horn sequence at every grade crossing in the USA. The sequence consists of a long long short long blast. Some cities have quiet zones where they don’t blow the horn, but most crossings are horn zones

It’s double tracked from Long Beach to Barstow with many portions being triple tracked. From Barstow to out of state is also double tracked
