Support systems for America’s homeless populations have fallen short in recent years. Substance abuse treatment centers, affordable housing, and proper health care services have not received adequate attention or funding to solve the growing homelessness crisis.
Bo Aucoin, a student in Saybrook University’s M.A. Counseling program, has experienced these hardships firsthand and understands the life-changing power that proper care and support can provide.
“I ended up homeless on the streets of San Francisco,” Aucoin says. “In some ways, I have no choice but to continue helping to narrow that gap [of homelessness] so that everyone who suffers from mental illness and addiction [can] have access to help.”
