I gotta say though, all the awesome creative renditions of Inside makes me feel very uneasy. The whole point was to gather our strength and go spend our time with each other. Spending our time chasing each other's approval online is kinda the poison he warned of. Basically, don't like this comment. Go find each other outside and fight together against everything that tries to keep us inside.

the portuguese poetry once said: "The poet is a pretender. He fakes it so completely that he even pretends it's pain the pain he actually feels." I do believe this is the case with Bo. The pretends to feel this pain, that he actually feels...

Is it impossible for artists to have real feelings? I don't think it's inconcievable that someone who quit for mental health reasons would have something to say about mental health.
@EmanuelCampos3 жыл бұрын
@@cameronsitton501 maybe my translation was not so good, I sad using the words frim the great portuguese poetry, that the artist pretend to have the very same pain they have. Yes, they have that feelings, and also express that pain in a very articulated and almost fake way.
@cameronsitton5013 жыл бұрын
@@EmanuelCampos As an artist, my method of expressing my feeling IS my artwork. Just because it feels fake to you doesn't mean that it actually is. Yes, Bo Burnham was not actually trapped inside of a room for months or years, but the whole world was figuratively stuck inside for a year, and it happened right as he was starting to feel like he could reenter the world again. Metaphor is not the same thing as hyperbole.
@usualthree73 жыл бұрын
@@cameronsitton501 I think they are agreeing with you. I thought they meant that artists do this “performance” to show these actually very real feelings that they do have or have had at some point. Like in the moment of performing it may not be “real” as far as they may not currently feel it, but it comes from real experience.
@aaravramnani50713 жыл бұрын
@@cameronsitton501 I think what they mean is that feelings are abstract and artists portray those feelings in a literal form which may sometimes be false but it's what they feel and they believe at the level of actually feeling it in short it says that in articulating the feelings that artists have they might feel it in a wholly different way making it almost false

i think the orchestra should've been brought down when it was talking, maybe just a cello, viola, and low brass, then bring back the full strings with bass and brass and winds. and when he says "and the funniest thing happened" i think you would've done good to either trickle it to near silence, or total silence, OR do a slam cut, then quarter or 8th rest, then go BIG AND HARD with the cellobass and low brass and low winds as LOUD as possible. I think I might give this a try. I really like the leg slides. that sounds really cool! it helps with the disorientating feel the original had in it.

This song is is probably sung from the perspective of anxiety's soft voice becoming shouting. Hyper awareness of your body's movements and wanting to retreat somewhere to be alone. The feeling of being so overwhelmed you cant think of or fear anything else. You fight it or try to slow the oncoming panicked attack but most times it forces your full attention. You feel like you lose control to it. Nice touch is in the video bo grabs the camera and lifts it up and swings it around every which way. Anxiety taking full control of your mind and even body with sheer panic.
@TheCD1233 жыл бұрын
I kept hearing it as “get your fucking hands off” at first, and I think that speaks a lot to what performers go through. The expectation of vulnerability, the distaste for closeness but the need to foster it with an audience who only knows you for your persona. Get your fucking hands off, indeed! Anyhoo that’s not the actual lyrics and I’m just another confused person posting on KZbin going through a mental health trip. I hope you have a nice day!
