Bo's whole "Inside" special is a work of art. He came back after a 5 year hiatus recovering from mental health issues. He was having panic attacks on stage. And just as he was preparing to come back, the pandemic started. And we got a solo production from him. Everything was done himself, in his home.

It's really a masterpiece. There's humor/comedy thrown into the special, but it really conveyed the darkness the internet/world is coming to. And how hopeless we feel to change anything, combined with the isolation of the lockdown(s) created by Covid making mental health even worse. Bo is a brilliant mind and creator, and Inside is definitely a must watch for everyone imo.

This song is so brilliant, without directly saying it, he showed how dark the internet is. By offering a little bit of everything all of the time, they put the world in your hands. As soon as you touched it the contract was signed, and Bo pulls the veil in his laughter revealing the price of a little bit of everything is your soul. Such an insane metaphor.

"Apathy's a tragedy, boredom is a crime." So key. We all hate now a single second of silence but that's where our brain rests, recharges and we can have deeper thoughts. So many artists and thinkers talk about how great silent walks are because if you're constantly being stimulated, especially by nonsense, your brain is just running on empty. So in our society where we're never bored, we never can think about deep things, or really consider our lives, etc.
@Cannon25412 жыл бұрын
As someone who has this problem exaserbated by ADHD, this is exactly it. When your senses are filled with inputs, and your brain is filled with stuff, there's no room left for thought, consideration, or to an extent, memory, because everything in your completely full up mind is constantly the same, a white wall of noise.

I'm not cheerleading for the internet, or disagree with the meaning of Bo's song, it's totally on point, and masterfully conveyed. I fully comprehend the toxic, vile nature that the internet can bring out in people/society, like anything else in life though, there's a ying and a yang. Without the internet, a surgeon I worked for couldn't have assisted less trained surgeons with life saving surgery from St. Louis Children's hospital on a 2y/o child on another continent. While physical contact will never be replaced, how many people, due to immune, quarantine, or travel issues, found a little comfort saying goodbye to a loved one dying of covid, face to face on skype or zoom. Evil will always stomp it's feet and make the most noise to draw our attention, try not to feed it, look for the good in life and you will find it. ✌️❤️

hes not saying the internet is bad hes just giving a sales pitch about the internet and what it has to offer in a way where he ramps it up from finding information to building a boom Edit: he puts it in a way where you can decide you're opinion on the internet and it is just a perception of all the experiences you can make and have made.

@@ecomog4735....I'm not sure if you're referring to Stave or Bo, though I'm leaning towards Bo, and I agree with your well stated comment, regardless, I never meant to imply either one of them stated the internet was bad. It wasn't lost on me that Bo was simply giving the listener a different lens to view the internet, to convey it's possible culpability at making human to human interaction less needed, possibly lowering the advantages of living in a society that fosters understanding and empathy through face to face interactions. I just thought Steve was focusing on all the negatives of the internet a tad to much in his post reaction breakdown, which is fine, not criticizing him for that, I just wanted to play devils advocate to what Stevie mentioned.

@liamengram63269 күн бұрын
That is a pretty wild statement at the end there. Sure, attention spans have been reduced by constant instant gratification, but that is not what ADHD is. ADHD is a diagnosable mental condition. In my retirement I took up working with individuals who have developmental disabilities. I assure you, the symptoms and resulting behaviors of ADHD in our older individuals are much more severe, because the younger people in our program have had education and instruction on how to cope with their ADHD, recognize when it is taking control, and mitigating it. I am 36. I myself was diagnosed with ADHD at 31. I always understood that I was different as a kid, but it never affected my studies. In fact, in retrospect my ADHD which I didn't know I had, but built my own coping mechanisms for, was a blessing. My ADHD often manifests in ignoring mundane shit that does not challenge me, and gets me hyper-focused when I find something challenging. I firmly believe my ADHD is actually why I exceled in STEM, was able to work pretty high paying jobs at a young age (before graduating high school) and was able to accelerate my education. That paired with the challenge I found in making connections with my social anxiety led me to build my company and constantly push the envelope with our work - so that I could feel challenged, and focus.

Draws you in with all the wonderful bright and shiny things, soon tosses a dark thing or two in between, speeds up and gets increasingly more chaotic but by then you’re already drawn in. I can definitely see how the internet can fuck people up, and I very much agree that there are problems with how we use it, but honestly, the internet has been such an incredible force of good in my life, so I just can't say that it's "the devil's work" or something like that. I'm a queer neurodivergent person. The internet has not only allowed me to find people who are similar to me, but has allowed me to figure myself out in ways I never would have without it, simply because I would never have heard of anything except what was introduced by the people around me. On top of that, it helps me deal with a lot of my neurodivergent tendencies, like giving me the ability to participate in work from my own home, which greatly lessens the stress I feel in day-to-day life, or providing me with content to fulfill my brain's need for stimulation. (Also, I'm a programmer. 90% (probably more) of my chosen career is what it is today because of the internet)
