Bo Shao is a co-founder and the chairman of Evolve, a philanthropic investment firm composed of a foundation, Evolve Foundation, and an impact investment firm, Evolve Ventures. With an initial capital of $100 million from the Shao family, Evolve aims to support organizations that relieve inner suffering and facilitate inner transformation. He is also the co-founder of Parent Lab, an app that helps parents meet common parenting challenges (a new version launches on April 10th).
Prior to Evolve, Bo was a founding partner of Matrix China, a leading technology venture capital firm in China, which manages more than $7 billion and has funded more than 500 companies, 50+ of which have become unicorns. He is also a serial entrepreneur who has co-founded five companies that have either gone public or become leaders in their respective industries.
Bo was born in China and was a winner of more than a dozen national mathematics competitions during high school. When he was 17, he left China for Harvard College on a full scholarship-one of the first such scholarships Harvard granted to a person from mainland China. After receiving his A.B. summa cum laude in physics and electrical engineering, he worked for Boston Consulting Group and Goldman Sachs and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Always a fan of Bo and great to see him on Tim's show; his upbring by a strict dad is a clear reminder about parenting. And he was so candid and truthful; absolutely a great session.

Very good interview! Resonate with it a lot as I grew up in the same period as Shao. Glad he lay emphasis on parenting and mental health, that’s what Chinese people are lack of.

I watched a couple of videos of the 2022 Bitcoin Conference. The one that stands out is the Cathie Wood and Michael Saylor video. Bo is the opposite of the pump and dump. He's honest.

Bo Shao is very polite when he compliments Tim's chinese pronunciation. Its the level of someone who has studied for about a year or so.

I'm Chinese and Tim's pronounciation is indeed very good. Saying the tone slightly wrong results in a completely different word/meaning. Far better than Mark Zuckerberg's.

As a native Chinese speaker, i can also confirm Tim's Chinese must be pretty good just given few Chinese he spoke during this podcast, lol. Very interesting and informative podcast. Although a bit of disappointment that Tim did not ask Shao about his view on current US-China relationship. Shao represents the elite Chinese groups (who know very well inside out about China and US) that might have the power to potentially influence the course of CCP and China. But, too often, those elite groups are the beneficiary and supporter of the "system". I don't think he is one of those typical elite group. His view on current US-China relationship would be very interesting to listen. Shao just reminded me of another Chinese elite who has somewhat similar background to him (maybe they know each other). His name is Desmond Shum, the author of "Red Roulette".

True! Back then when dating was great (the years 2007, 2008 and 2009), i was 39 years old and at my peak. I have had three threesomes at my home ( with six different women ). I am still proud about it that i succeeded.

I tried to figure out Tim's Chinese name. It is 费聿诚. I was confused by the middle character until I realized 書 is actually from Chinese traditional characters, not simplified version. Tim, your Chinese is better than me, lol.
