I didn’t notice if you addressed the battens meeting up with the baseboard. Did you remove the old baseboard and use new one with same thickness as the battens so they don’t protrude?

Our baseboard and top trim are 1/2"thick. Battens are 7/16", which worked perfectly. I'd prefer just slightly thinner, that way the transition is smoother. I wouldn't want them the same or then the joints would have ended up showing overhang in some places.

Great video! And I’ve watched a ton! Anyway I’m so excited to do this in both bathrooms! Did it look totally smooth where the seams met on the smooth back board?

Yes, the seams were smooth but only because we hid them behind the battens. We had to measure and cut carefully to plan where the seams would be before starting. Planning is important!

Also, have a 400 grit sandpaper. Okay to use to rough the hardboard, or do you suggest the 220 as you used?

Honestly I'm not even certain the sanding is necessary. After the project was finished, I saw a Eucaboard description advertising it as paintable... I just get anxious painting shiny surfaces! 😅 So I think 400 is OK but 220 worked fine and it'll be much faster than 400 grit to achieve the same result.

Could you let me know what type of roller you used for prime and paint? Was it a foam roller?

Yes definitely use a foam roller for for a nice smooth finish.
