I’m a tkd practitioner who just had their first day of wrestling, and I’ve got to say, wrestling is hard. Out of the maybe 15 times I was taken down between a 6 minute round and 2 2 minute rounds, I managed to sprawl and stop TWO. It requires you to be much more defensively responsible, because if not, you are getting slammed on the mat. Sorry for not being related to the video

You gotta admire Seth for his dedication to his videos. He's been zapped by Icey Mike, beaten (I mean, conditioned) by a muay thai instructor, and kicked by a taekwondo master. And let's not forget he literally burned himself with a lighter. What's next? Put to sleep by a Brazilian Jujitsu black belt? See if Icey Mike can break his arm with a hammer?

@@Pope2501 oh, that's not the source of my criticism. Modern Olympic games as an idea (not to mention the execution) compared to original ones are like a house and a car. They're different things with different designs and meaning. Adopting this name and saying it's a revival of anything is like shoving mashed potatoes inyo ancient Olympians'* throats and saying "check out this tasty ancient greek wine" (except you do it as an insane cashgrab convincing everybody it's a noble idea, not for profit at all and in fact hosts will become rich thanks to hosting it despite all the data to the contrary) *Not the gods lmao PS I've done a few years of Judo and tried a few lessons of GR (purely as a hobby), enjoyed the former and not the latter but it makes those sports even more impressive after trying them out.

I love this demonstration of skill and a friendly competition. I am a TKD practitioner for 30 + years. My first instructor had alot of students s who were in the NFL hall of fame. It was always amazing to see these guys practice martial arts. It was humbling seeing the raw power and athletic ability of these students. One testing a few of the players were all getting geared up for their belt testing. I was either recertifying my rank or being promoted to 2nd degree blk belt. At the time I was known for my speed breaks.

That's the result of delivering the energy in the form of speed. Back in the nineties at my dojang, it was frowned upon for a blue belter or above to punch a board into two pieces, as the punch should be delivered so fast that the board breaks into 3 pieces.

It was Master J Kim and Master Y Kim along with Master Chris and of course Master Chang himself (and a bunch of other instructors who were not classified as masters then. Master in taekwondo is 4 Dan and up). Idk if any of them still work there or remember me, but I would love to go back and visit them some day.

Generally it's thickness is either 1", 1/2", 1/4" of pine. One inch is for power breaking and speed breaking, 1/2" is generally used for examination of youth and beginners, 1/4" is for trick breaking and children. In terms of raw power TKD beats karate. One of the big differences is the delivery of the strike. TKD is actually quite impractical especially in a fight as TKD is kick-base(aka distance opponent from yourself, you can live without a leg but not without an organ in your torso), most fights on the streets usually don't have that special treatment so unless you're seeing someone running towards thus can prepare yourself otherwise you're mostly f'ed

I will say this, because this video made me happy. When I was a teen, I was a blue belt in Taekwondo (ITF/WTF idk), and sure, it´s not a street fightig art, but it sure made me feel I could fly. Now, 25 years later, I signed up at my local gym. This will be hard work, but I hope to make the split again :)

At 1:50 u can see Seth's energy brake that board. Look closely, unless he edited it, that's how I knew he was holding back this whole time. He let his friend win. So tkd would build more of a following he's such a nice person lmao.
