Hand planes have been around a long time maybe even 100+ years. I made them as a kid from Masonite and sealed them with resin. I just used a cupboard hand to hold on to it but it wasn't my invention by far. I now use a molded plastic plane and rarely ware flippers/fins. Fins aren't required when your feet are as big as mine. 🤣😯

I saw these made of wood in Costa Rica about 8 years ago, and completely forgot about them. Found myself in a one foot perfectly shaped light offshore wind wave in s Vietnam in Feb 2020 (and my surfboard not with me), and was using my frisbee as a hand plane. Then in lockdown (having moved back to Europe) I made 3 of them. Super fun for small summer surf, would recommend to keep in your wetsuit/beach bag so you always have a board to hand!

Been there, done that. I use two hand boards but way thinner. They were given to me one day at Makapuu after I came in. I was using a homemade balsa board.

Just re-watched the video and, having been educated about global climate change in the mean time, I can say, yes, function of the planes is good, all that. Yet, purchase "Enjoy" and others who use RECYCLED materials. This aspect influenced me greatly this time around. Aloha!

How do you paddle out with a hand plane without fatiguing your arms? I find using fins only is enough, so my handplane has only been used twice, so not even a handful of times.

What is the size of the big one? I’d like to get one for smaller waves.

Really enjoyed the video. Can you give a name/link to the big yellow board? Also to the 'old school' Red molded plastic one? I'm in Michigan and would love to try one of these and $50 bucks seems much better to try something out than $160. Hard to catch the names of the boards....

+GoPro hero Kid I'd say it's good for any age that wants to bodysurf. You're most likely lighter in weight so you can use a smaller one.
