I read through the rules like 1,5 years ago, a little bit overwhelmed by the fact that I didn't know what a polyomino game was xD Glad it is ready to launch soon

I've had a ton of fun helping to playtest this one! One note on the locate phase (first phase) is while it might seem like it's all luck based, there's definitely a strategy and deduction element to it. Each location has a certain difficulty, so understanding if your opponent might want to locate themselves at an easier or harder location might give you an edge in guessing correctly. Also lots of fun table-talk and bluffing can happen during this phase. Plus, when a player wins they lose that location to hide in so the options for where they're hiding decrease as the game moves on, which is another clever catchup mechanism.

Thanks so much, Alex! A couple of notes for anyone checking out the video: 1. The "bonus" that you earn for covering the icons on the Locate Grids (the smaller ones) is called Surveillance and this gives you a piece that you can play immediately when you get to the Target Phase. This is an in-round catch-up mechanic as, even if it is taking you longer to find your opponent, as long as you are gaining surveillance, you will be able to catch-up when you do find them. 2. The removal of the Location the winner was hiding at does two things: a) The opponent now has one less place to search next round, meaning that they will probably find you more quickly, and b) Because each Target is a different difficulty, the winner loses the ability to use that Location again, meaning that you gain an advantage hiding at harder Locations for one round but won't have that option next round. This makes where you hide a little more meaningful than just a shell game. 3. Isolating innocents also requires you to cut them off from the borders so you had a little more work to do in your kill example. Lastly, we had a great conversation about the current default of the game being a binary, win/lose and your progress meaning nothing between rounds. As you mentioned I will have a "Blitz Mode" variant that lets you play through. What I found with playtesting and feedback from players though is that as often as there is that "I was one play away from winning and now that means nothing" there was also "I am three plays behind and I will now never catch up". The clean slate of a new round with the advantages felt more like players had a fair shot at a win, and some games of blitz mode felt obvious who was going to win well before the conclusion if one player fell behind by more than 1 or 2 moves. Thanks again! Kickstarter is October 18th! www.kickstarter.com/projects/galensgames/super-snipers?ref=clipboard-prelaunch

Oh yeah, there is also a real-time mode that uses 10 second timers for your turns.

What'd about something in between where the player who lost the round gets to keep something for the next one? Or possibly both players get to keep 1 thing?

@@MrGreeneyes77 at least in the way the game currently works, I think that would throw off the balance. I get what Alex is saying about the sense of losing all progress and the difference of a single move being the same as being behind by 5 moves. The rounds are essentially individual races with strong catch up mechanisms for the loser of each race and a small reward for the winner. The loser gets “Adrenaline “ which is both a special shaped wild polyomino and they also unlock their extra power. Additionally, the winner loses the location they were hiding at meaning they can’t use it again and there are fewer places to look for them. The winner gets “tactical advantage “ which allows them to rearrange their LOS one time. The game consistently delivers tight matches and comebacks are almost always possible. I’m still playtesting and refining the “Blitz Mode” and I think some players (like Alex) may end up preferring it, but my players were pretty clear in preferring the current version. Long winded reply, sorry.

Played the prototype a few times at a con. It's fun take on the genre and unique head to head game.

Agreed, it's nice to have a head-to-head polyomino

could have an idea of battleships, if your opponent keeps the center visible AND you correctly cover the 3 marks, then we continue
